I have been surprised no one has opened a thread on this topic yet,, but the security situation in Ethiopia has been deteoriating rapidly over the past few weeks. In the capital Addis Ababa, authorities are targeting ethnic Tigrayan civilians and mass arrests are taking place. This comes about a year into the conflict in the Tigray region of the country. It is safe to say that Ethiopia is on the brink of a full scale war.

Ethiopia does not receive a lot of coverage in the west because it has very little economic value. Just the way it is.

Or maybe American's would just like to forget that part of the world after Somalia.
You'll see a lot more coverage when reports of mass executions or starvation leak out. And then again when another wave of refugees shows up on the West's border.
