That’s what I’m putting on the table.

That’s a lot of extra sugar there. I get you need to balance the pineapple’s acidy taste, but that seems excessive.

Yeah, what’s with the ham? Damn things show up at all the big holidays.
Though, I do like me some good ole honey ham.

Thanksgiving was 6 weeks ago.
cjg225 wrote:Well, we do Thanksgiving lunch, not dinner. But today's spread was
Honey-brined turkey breast
Yukon Gold mashed potatoes
Buttered peas & sliced carrots
Traditional cubed bread stuffing
Candied sweet potatoes
And, of course, pumpkin pie for dessert... specifically, our family's recipe, which is unlike anything you'll find in a store.

Not American, so no thanksgiving, so nothing special.
Anyhow, happy thanksgiving to anyone who wants to celebrate it.

I'm proud of the fact that during the pandemic I've lost weight and got my body fat down to single digit percentages since I never had any discipline with food or exercise. Today, it's gonna be fasting and coffee!

I tried Keto once with tremendous results….
But alas, I love food so much it’s hard to stick with it.

Keto is a ripoff of Atkins. It's really the best diet. I have used it and I am on it again. I ate half what I usually do on Thanksgiving. Only cheated with stuffing and one piece of bread. No desert. It was amazing to leave without your pants bursting of feeling like crap for two days as your body detoxes the starch and sugar.

However, this year I was unable to drive. The reason being is I just had a rather nasty cancer removed from my right hand and I have skin grafts that are healing. My right hand is immobilized for the time being. Even with automatic transmissions and power steering I did not want to risk driving.
So, I stayed home and prepared wht I could with one hand. I made what many of you in the southwest will recognize: a "chilli size". For those of you not near a Big Boy or an IHOP, I will explain. You grill a hamburger patty and put it in a shallow bowl. You then put chili and beans over the top of it and add shredded cheddar cheese to taste. Some chopped raw onion on top of that and a grilled hamburger bun to the side, and you're all set. The hamburger buns serve the place of toast.
I had me a real party with a nice big portion of it, and sat and watched DVD's of a television series called Endeavour.

The problem with these types of diets is that they’re not sustainable. You maintain them. So, you’re weight does the yo-yo.
The bottom line for weight loss? Calories in must be less than calories out. It’s simple math.
Of course, you need to eat the “right” foods to maintain some metabolic health.
I eat anything I want to eat, but in moderation. I didn’t overdo the turkey, brisket, sweet potatoes, breads, etc. I ate more than I would have in a normal meal…in fact I ate more through the whole day, but I didn’t feel bad or bloated. I paced myself and maintained some sense of balance in the food.
