Niagara Falls Canal Future
So way in the future, there will be no Niagara Falls. The rocks are eroding because science. There is a canal built through Ontario right now. Ste. Cathereines and Welland. Will that canal be useless? I have heard geologists say the falls will simply vanish but very little is said about the shipping up and down the Great Lakes. Because we were supposed to have flying cars by now and have none, I am wondering what if things stay pretty much the same as they are now but no Niagara Falls?

By "way in the future" you mean 22-23 thousand years from now, at which point man will trying to figure out flying cars, but the Elon Musk droid will be working hard on it.

The falls are creeping upstream because of the erosion of the underlying rock, but there will always be an altitude differential between Lake Erie and Ontario.

As said, this isn't happening tomorrow and the falls are much closer to Lake Ontario than Lake Erie. Even the Rainbow and Peace bridges wouldn't be susceptible to destruction or replacement for several thousand years.
Also yes the Welland canal would be useless but most of our infrastructure will be useless by 2100, never mind 23,000 years.

Looking at satellite images of the Niagara River, it looks smooth and quiet around Buckhorn and Navy Islands. Are there any theories as to how far the erosion will actually go? All the way to Lake Erie?
