When I visited the US and ate breakfast at hotels, half the time the maple syrup wasn't maple syrup but HFCS.

Do you know the price of real maple syrup? It won’t be in the free buffet, let’s just say that at $30:a quart.

Especially the bourbon barrel-aged maple syrup I get. Insanely good.

Well it's not a drink, you're supposed to use a reasonable amount. In France we can get it for a bit less than that (from Canada).
Culinary discussion aside, I wonder if we will see some foodstuff being replaced by others, partly to cover what's missing, and partly to share with countries where there is a lack of food. Here plenty of food producers have already changed their recipes to use less sunflower oil. Meanwhile mustard is becoming difficult to find.

Staying at an Embassy Suites right now. Free made-to-order breakfast is nice.
Immediately thought of this thread this morning as I had what I'm sure was some mass-market-whatever-HFCS-hotel-gallon-bucket syrup dispensed into a cup to pour onto my actually-pretty-good pancakes.
I don't know the last time I had something other than legit maple syrup on pancakes. So, so much worse than the real stuff.
