So... now.... wait a minute....

All these Republican MAGAs whining on and on about Hunter Biden but look at Jared Kushner

https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2022/05 ... udi-arabia
https://www.reuters.com/world/us/us-hou ... 022-06-02/

And let's not forget the LIV Saudi golf funding

https://www.wsj.com/articles/liv-golf-d ... 1658839434
https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2022/ ... udi-arabia

But do go on about Hunter Biden being a lawyer with a laptop and how that is worthy of impeachment and removal of Joe Biden.....

I hope there is one FBI agent thinking 'deep criminal' like a criminal....have a judge on call to seek a search warrant for Ivana Trump's coffin at Bedminster.

..and who handled her remains? Was there clause specifying that in her demise, ownership the Plaza hotel reverts back to the Traitor.

The timeline appears to show that the FBI alerted Trump's team today via e-mail, that they had the passports, and the filter team had identified them for return. After which, Trump made the announcement that his passports had been seized. So he already knew they were being returned when he made the announcement.

Here are some good summaries of how Trump's defense has evolved over the last week. He's following a well-rehearsed playbook that has served him well in the past. He makes a blizzard of unfounded allegations that have to be continuously shot down. But the volume of which, creates the impression among his followers that his treatment is unjust. Will misdirection work again this time?

The passports are not listed in the inventory, and Trump didn't know they were seized until the FBI advised him they were being returned today.

As the filter teams go through the seized documents, they will return anything that doesn't pertain to the investigation, or may be privileged. There is a firewall between the filter and the investigation teams. All done by the book.

I’ve met the guy who ran Airwhiners and we have mutual friends. He started it as a protest/joke over disagreements with Johan over the moderation. And I think Johan actually banned him from this site because of Airwhiners.

And I don’t think it was that bad. Mostly ranting against Johan and making fun of this site and some of the users. And quite honestly, this site’s moderation was terrible under Johan.

Also, the guy who ran Airwhiners wasn’t even American - he was from India. I doubt he would have attended a Trump rally.

As I recall, wasn’t one of the frequent subjects on airwhiners a certain deaf member of this site? Was long before I joined (refused to pay) but I definitely recall him being a regular target.

The last paragraph highlights what I believe will end up being the ultimate defense, as Trump cycles through the list of excuses. He will say that others took the documents without his direct knowledge or approval, and that his understanding was that the materials were privileged and/or declassified. Also that the whole thing is a witch hunt. That will hang his staff out to dry, and his followers will accept it.

What I don't understand is that many of these people understand what he did and what he is doing is wrong and they still defend him and remain silent on all of this. What is he holding over them? Why are they still defending him? I would think national security would outweigh private NDAs, if that is the case.

That article paints a sad picture of an intellectual midget who spent more time on the golf course than he did with the affairs of state. It wouldn't surprise me if the charts were coloured in by crayons. Or Sharpie!

"Senior intelligence officials realized early on that President Donald Trump wasn’t going to read even short written summaries of his regular intelligence briefings. So the CIA officers who prepared the briefings made sure they came to the Oval Office laden with striking images, pared-down charts and slick graphics designed to grab the president’s fleeting interest, several officials familiar with the briefings told NBC News.

“To secure his attention, you had to use images and catchy headlines, even better if they had his name in them,” said Doug London, a former CIA officer who helped assemble the briefing material.
"

You have to distinguish between those who understand the con, and those that don't.

For those that don't, he's "their guy", he says the things they think and does the things they wish they could do. In return for that he gets their undying loyalty & support. Trump clearly understands this, he's in on the con, as he said he could kill someone on the street and they would still support him. Which is absolutely true. They are the true believers, and they exist in every cult.

For those that do, they too are in on the con, they recognize they can leverage his base by supporting him publicly, and remain in office and in power by that method. They will support him for as long as his popularity lasts, and they will fight over his base when he's gone. But they will abandon him when he no longer fulfills that purpose.

The first group is being manipulated, the second group is doing the manipulation. But they have a common goal in asserting political power, which Trump permits them to do.

Here is perhaps the first indication of intent. Trump lawyers have testified to the FBI that he was advised the documents needed to be returned to the National Archives. His response was:

"It's not theirs, it's mine."

If that can be proven, then he definitely is vulnerable on obstruction. And the search warrant was 100% justified. And he lied when he said all they had to do was ask, they had asked and his advisors urged him to comply, but he refused.

There are some interesting reports coming out that the "Classified Documents" may contain a lot of compromising material to be used against political enemies.

https://www.businessinsider.com/michael ... ips-2022-8

The Trump supporters will look at this as ,. hey it's Cohen, a felon, but remember the Felon worked for Trump for a decade.

"I'm sure some of it was Kim Jong Un love letters, or a letter he may have received from Vladimir Putin about his Miss Universe pageant, something that he can show off if he ever felt he needed to have that document," Cohen said.

"But I believe that the sensitive information that's there was used or was going to be used by him as a get-out-of-jail-free card," he added.

While executing a search warrant on the property last Monday, the FBI removed 11 sets of classified documents — some of which were marked top secret and concerned nuclear weapons. According to the warrant, the Justice Department is looking into whether Trump broke three federal laws, including the Espionage Act.

Based on past experience, Trump will run through them fairly quickly. That photo just struck me as having a Charlie's Angels vibe.

He tends to value their nuttiness when they first begin to vigorously defend him, but then when there is pushback from the media and factual sources, replaces them as they become a liability. Essentially they take the fall for him, he uses them as human shields.

Trump aides think a family member informed on him to the FBI because agents knew where to find a specific leather case, report says

Matt Gaetz's Republican primary opponent suggests he is the possible FBI Mar-a-Lago informant in new attack ad

https://www.businessinsider.com/matt-ga ... -ad-2022-8

Is he spying on Trump as part of a deal with the FBI to drop sex trafficking charges? People are saying so, I've heard many, many people saying so. :duck:

Sadly we're in an age where people can literally cherrypick news sources to find ones that endorse their worldview.

And yeah, the whole "fake news" thing has been completely distorted. "Fake news" originally meant fake news; news that had been completely been made up from scratch. CNN/MSNBC/NYT/WSJ/CBS/WaPo/BBC/EuroNews/ABC/AlJazeera/CNA all have their faults and will inevitably report stories incorrectly from time to time or inadvertently report unverified claims as fact, but they never actually make news up.

Judge Reinhart has indicated that he is willing to unseal a portion of the Mar-a-Lago search warrant probable cause affidavit. The DoJ has a week to submit their redactions and a brief with their reasoning for withholding information. He will then review in private consultation with the DoJ, before deciding.

He did unseal the government motion for the warrant, as well as the order granting the warrant. Those likely will contain no new information.

Trump was offered the opportunity to file a motion in today's hearings, but declined. Christina Bobb was present as an observer. Publicly Trump has called for a full unredacted release.

So, as usual, he is working both sides of the argument. He can now claim victory, no matter what happens.

Bottom line: he took documents he was not supposed to take per federal law.

For Trump, the affidavit is a double-edged sword. On one hand it reveals the roadmap to the case against him, which helps him to defend. On the other hand, it by definition is an incriminating document with no exculpatory evidence, so it has the potential to be very damaging.

It's likely that Trump acted against the advice of counsel in speaking out (as he often does), but counsel would not file any public motion in the case, due to the potential for harm.

So everything will come down to how much is redacted. The DoJ made the case that they have willing witnesses who may become unwilling if their identities are revealed. They were also concerned about potential retaliatory actions by the public, against either witnesses or agents working the case.

My guess is that this will satisfy no one. Trump World will insist there is a conspiracy and will demand the entire affidavit, while DoJ will feel their investigation is potentially being compromised.

The one thing that is certain, is that Trump will continue to merit special treatment due to his standing as a former President. If this was you or me, there would be no hope of unsealing an affidavit, prior to indictment.

I wonder what’s the rationale behind Sen. Graham trying so hard to avoid grand jury testimony...could it be he’s aware some of the docs in the Trump collection were blackmail material on him?

They are hiding behind the Constitutional protection for legislative works. But the real reason is if they testify against Trump, he will come out against them, as RINOs. You would think they would want to diminished his power over them.

You mean while he was bragging about having them to visitors?

And they forgot in the last 18 months to respond to the National Archives request to have the documents back.

Including a subpoena, ignoring that itself a criminal offense, whoever you think you are.

Yeah, the I forgot defense is pretty well shot. His lawyers at the time, testified to the FBI that when advised to return the documents, he responded "it's not theirs, it's mine". That strongly indicates intent to withhold the documents. If they can prove that, he's in serious trouble.

The thing about Trump and lawyers, is that he uses them as sacrificial shields, then dumps them once they've had enough and turn on him. Which is why he's having trouble now obtaining experienced counsel.

Yeah too bad for Trump that his best attorney was so good the Deep State gave him HIV/AIDS and had him killed.

The fact that Roy Cohn was the mastermind of the McCarthy hearings & era, has everything to do with Trump's behavior today. Same basic method, it doesn't matter if what you say is true, as long as you can persuade others to believe it.

I've always said that there is a strong analogy between McCarthy and Trump. Enough time has passed that many in Trump World don't remember that era, and how destructive it was for society.

Those who don't know history, are doomed to repeat it. Unfortunately the rest of us have to go along for the ride.

Swing and a miss.

Taking classified documents that are labeled "CLASSIFIED" or "TOP SECRET" knowing they are classified and top secret is in a completely different universe from digging out a suitcase that has not moved in months.

There is a direct line between those 2. What McCarrthyism started has become the republican party. Nixon was a variant, Reagan was a variant, Bush Jr. was a variant.

Trump legal team has filed a motion for a special master to review materials seized at Mar-a-Lago, and asking that the FBI investigation be halted until the review is complete. Doesn't trust the FBI filter team, and says the search & seizure was unprecedented and thus merits special treatment.

Also raised the Russian election interference investigation, as evidence that he wasn't/won't be treated fairly by the FBI. A judge will have to decide, which could be the search warrant Judge Reinhart, although the motion was filed with the appellate court, so likely will end up there.

Trump had threatened over the weekend to file a Fourth Amendment motion. Not clear if this is what he meant, or if there is more coming.

Judge Reinhart clarified today that the affidavit release may be so heavily redacted that it will have little value. In that case he may choose not to release it.

The motion today gives Trump's side of the search warrant execution at Mar-a-Lago. The language is incredibly bombastic, as is typical of Trump, but unusual for a legal motion. It's quite the read, and may indicate he is not taking the advice of counsel. Here is a link:

That makes no sense to me; if he thinks something has been taken in error he should specify what that item is and ask for it's return.
It doesn't seem that he's suffered any loss if he can't even state what he wants back.

Too noisy and the more 45 whines the more suspicions arise. Lawyers are late filing on this stuff.

The claim is that the protocols used by the FBI filter team were established ex-parte, between the FBI and the judge, with no input or knowledge of the Trump legal team. So are inherently unfair to Trump.

The thing is, he also demanded a detailed inventory of what was seized, which the FBI could not provide without filtering & inspecting the documents. So I guess he expects the special master to do that, but my guess is the FBI will have finished before this gets resolved.

There is precedent for a special master in cases where privileged information is seized, so Trump is relying on the argument that all his materials are "presumptively privileged" as President. What may be different here, is that the records don't belong to him, but to the National Archives.

Nice legal distraction of Trump, but why did he took classified documents with him? And why did he only gave a part of it back earlier this year? Trump may be stupid, but he isn’t that stupid.
