One man kills dozens of children in Thailand

Thu Oct 06, 2022 6:40 pm

A former policeman killed at least 37 people in an attack on a children's nursery in Uthai Sawan, Nong Bua Lamphu province
After the attack, he opened fire on and crashed his vehicle into a crowd of bystanders, before returning home and killing his wife and son, police said
The gunman - named by police as Panya Khamrab - then took his own life
He was armed with a knife, a handgun and a shotgun, according to the BBC's South Asia correspondent Jonathan Head

The policemen was drug addict his whole life and was on drugs during the attack. Reportedly he was very unstable and violent.
How did he hold a police officer job?

This one hurts to read, just awful awful awful.

It seems the whole world is going crazy at once.

As the lyric from the 60's Credence Clearwater Revival song "Run thru the Jungle" -

Whoa, thought it was a nightmare
Lord it was so true
They told me don't go walking slow
The devil's on the loose

If you thought you had seen the pits in tele-media, try this one from CNN. An American reporter and her British cameraman have been fined, deported and banned from returning for filming inside the room where the children were killed. Included among the footage were shots of bloodstains on the floor.

As they are so keen to get close-ups of crime scenes, maybe CNN could send them to the Kerch bridge.

Haven't been to Thailand I suppose? Rampant corruption and old boys' club buddy system in the rural provinces. Line the pockets of a local police chief, or be from a family in good with the cops, and the job is yours.

Slightly calling BS on the characterizations in the YT link. It's rural Thailand - they probably *were* allowed inside because whoever was guarding the place accepted cash, ignored the keep-out policy, whatever. Bad form obviously to sensationalize, but nearly any network with 'the scoop' would do so these days, not only CNN. Also Anna Coren is well known to CNN audiences in Asia - she's Australian, not American, and was based out of their HK bureau for most of the 2000s.
