Haven’t these allegations been made previously but largely ignored?
The GOP has shown it doesn’t care about Trump’s history. I can’t see that Ms Carroll succeeding would change that.

Doubt it'd be a problem, probably a redeeming quality, having more notoriety and being able to call the accusers "snowflakes" would be a big rallying point for the believers. The standard operating procedure seems to be "anything goes" as long as it upsets the left and gains media attention.
Or am I being too cynical?
I certainly remember seeing on here the happy posts from the right "happy to see the heads of the left spinning" etc.

Trumps been accused of rape multiple times and asserted his lack of respect for women consistently.
His followers could care less. To them they are either convinced it’s all fake news or they are as morally disgusting as Donald himself.

Either ignored or we heard "but Hillary!" or "she's not my type" or something silly. His fan base does not care. He even said he grabs women by their parts and the base did not care. Look how they respond to Me Too. His fan base simply does not care.

I’d go even one step further and mention that not only do they not care, they’re cool with it.

The rape allegations have been floating around for ages. Nothing happened because the alleged crimes were out of time, until Trump 'rebutted' the claims with statements Carroll believed to be dafamatory. This case has been tied up while courts decide whether these statements were made as part of Trump's Presidential duties. Since leaving the White House, Trump has repeated those statements or similar, so Carroll brought a new case ,as the new statements could not have Presidential Privilege. New York has passed a new law allowing rape victims to bring in civil cases which would otherwise be out of time, and this came into effect on Thanksgiving Day for 12 months. Ms Carroll has amended her defamation case to include the rape claim.
I find it strange that, for all Trump's readiness to threaten to sue (even if he never follows through), he appears to have done nothing re Ms Carroll.
