Trump calls for termination of Constitution

You can't make this stuff up - the man is seriously mentally ill. And yet he is still able to garner support from GOP flunkies (2nd link)

It’s going to be entertaining watching him spend the next two years trying to claw out from under this. It’s going to come up time and time and time again.

I’m willing to bet one of his troglodytes in the House propose an Amendment — shall we take bets on whether it’s MTG, fake teeth and hair Boebert, or Caesar Flickerman cum Matt Gaetz?

Such ignorant and stupid comments just adds to why Trump must be destroyed by any non-violent means necessary. He needs to be seen as a domestic terrorist and face the highest levels of criminal prosecution and conviction, for his supporting the terrorist coup attempt at the US Capitol on 1/6/21 to reverse the 2020 election so he 'wins', as well as his massive violations of laws of top secret documents he possessed after leaving office. He also needs to pay for his gross incompetence in handling international relations, the Covid-19 pandemic and his over support of White Supremacists. He needs to lose all his wealth, be shunned by everyone like he was radioactive and his name be seen now and in history up there with some of the worst dictators.

Aside from the stupidity of it all, what is this supposed to accomplish ? Asking/demanding something that will never happen just shows he's a powerless fool.

I doubt it. I bet he could still get 70M Republicans to vote against the Constitution. He's the face and standard bearer of the GOP and they want to dismantle our country and it's guiding principles. They go on and on about Dems and socialism but it's just a distraction around their true mission. It's installing Trump as a dictator backed by White Supremacist militias. The vast majority of Republicans would happily vote for this. My proof is the 2020 election.

If this isn't grounds for the GOP dropping him, I don't know what is.

Who am I kidding, he got away with grabbing female genitalia and will likely get away with having dinner with white supremacists.

I just want to grab some high ranking republican, shake him and say "wake the hell up!!" Every time I think they'll finally say they've had enough of this clown, they throw their support behind him again.
Someone on the right PLEASE step up and put an end to this con man's political ambitions....

I agree “the base” will likely be unphased. But it’s not the base that the ads would be targeted to. It’s the extra 10% of nose holders that both party needs to get across the finish line, thats who’ll be bombarded with ads.

People talk about him and it gets his base and his "enemies" riled up. It boosts his ego, too. He can sit back and crow at his underlings about "look how everyone loves me because they are talking about me so much!"

Side note: if having dinner with anti-Semites and Holocaust deniers will not make Republicans turn their back on him, nothing will. But, we already knew that...

I agree that the strongest of the base will be unfazed.

However, the Dems will be able to solidly back the constitution and clearly and unambiguously target moves to "suspend the Constitution" as thoroughly and unambiguously unAmerican and threat to the core of the country.

What? A few weirdos around the former leader, who does not even have the party whip now, due to his refusal to accept a report about said few weirdos. Who is also unlikely to be the candidate in his own seat next time. And guess where the few weirdos have gone? Who knows, they are not around as they have either left or been thrown out.

They were idiots as they conflated opposition to the policies of the (very right wing) Israeli government with being unpleasant to the party’s many Jewish activists and MP’s, if you knew what you are were taking about, you might have even found out as with the US, the center left in the UK have a large Jewish following
Do try to keep up, news from 5 years go? And you spelt the name of the party wrong.
Most anti Semitic idiots are on the far right, just like everywhere else, so what the latest point you are trying to make eludes me.

This is about Trump, you might as well argue that the Democratic Party have the anti Semitic types, maybe you will yet.....

Trump said if he shoots someone at Time Square, people still vote for him, and he was right. The people supporting him are the ones who were left behind in society and they do not care anymore. You saw the same with Brexit or with any populist movement. They do not care if and what kind of damage or hardship the country will go through once these kinds of people are in office, because they are already at the bottom. And unfortunately, there are enough people in this group to tip the scale.

For society at large, we need to get those people back engaged and give them a leg up again to move forward as a society as a nation.

Maybe now they can rename the GOP into RFP (in remembrance of the PNF) and his militia supporters could go by Blackshirts. The resemblance is frightening...

Get a leg up? Most of these people are living in air conditioned houses driving late model pickup trucks to their favorite sporting venue and they need the truck to haul their crap from the nearest WalMart every week.

The real down and outers in the US aren't Trump fans.

What these people really need is a two year vacation in someplace like Ethiopia; give em some perspective.

Guess Elon got the attention he desired from the story. He's saying the Constitution is more important than any POTUS (and he's right), and also saying in what could be a double entendre "end of story." I wonder if this will end any further disclosures about whatever dialogue Twitter had about the process.

The GOP is more of a populist cult than a political partry. They thrive on ignorance and suffering. Trump wanting to shred the constitution doesn't really register for the cult as they do not realize that their lives outside of their hate, fear, and anger are made possible by the Constitution.

Trump has been disparaging America since 2015's announcment. He just wraps himself in the flag and pretends to love what he is destroying. Just a narcissistic abusive personality.

Stay on topic.

The Republican party has been trying to get rid of the Constitution for years all while insisting Democrats are. No Democrat has called for suspending the Constitution. It is always Republicans. Republicans are outraged over something and blame Democrats but Republicans are actually doing the thing they accuse Democrats of doing. Taking guns, voter suppression, lowering wages, taking health care, racism, anti-Semitism.... the list goes on.

When someone tells you who they are, believe them. Republicans hate the rule of law, democracy, working people, families, life and the Constitution. They have been very clear about this over the past 20 years.

That was already a point of outrage for Republicans. "The Squad" are anti-Semitic, according to Republicans. How do we know this? They support a Palestinian state. Supporting a free Palestine means anti-Semitism to Republicans, for some reason. And, because "The Squad" are Democrats and "The Squat" support a free Palestine, all Democrats support a free Palestine, therefore all Democrats are anti-Semitic so both sides do it so Republicans can be as anti-Semitic as they want.

I am not making this up. This is logic and reasoning for Republicans. Go back and look at any thread here or any article written by the right.

The constitution is an old document, some parts are long by there use-by dates whilst other are still valid, it's probably time for a constitutional convention to update and modernise the document for the times you live in today, not the time when the majority of it was written, its supposed to be a living document, the 27th was the last amendment in 1992, it's laughable that it took 202 years to be ratified

The last thing the US needs right now is a constitutional convention, while I totally agree with you that there are parts that need to be updated, it needs to be done at a time when the political spectrum is a little less...Well on the spectrum.

Trump was always a trash can. At times, that trash can won a few debates here and there versus the Establishment. But this did not mean he was good.

He was the Boaty McBoatface president. It’s a mistake to read too much into him. There’s nothing there to understand. IMO.

I agree with the first part but one thing to understand is that 70M Americans voted for a Boat-faced Orange Clown Posse...TWICE! They were genuinely ecstatic at turning the country into a trash can, something like a WWF Wrestlemania spectacle of fakery and basement-level entertainment quality. The entire Republican party was goose-stepping to Trump's beat and they'd happily do it again. Look at their response to Trump's demand that we light fire to the Constitution. Fox News is whining in its articles that Trump is only referring to "certain parts" of it. Can you imagine the depravity and near total lack of intelligence is takes to buy into this kind of crap? I used to think it was impossible and yet there they are, 70M of them.

Wonder what all the GOP senators and house reps that proudly walk around with a copy of the constitution in their pockets (as if to prove they are patriots or something) think about their dear leader now. The entire party's silence speaks volumes.

These are his words exactly as written:
“Do you throw the Presidential Election Results of 2020 OUT and declare the RIGHTFUL WINNER, or do you have a NEW ELECTION? A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution,”

Taken from thousands upon thousands of news sources and forever captured as written fact. I highlighted in bold for you the second sentence. He writes "A massive fraud (a factual and proven lie)...etc etc allows for the termination of ALL rules..articles etc etc..even those found in the Constitution". Tell me at what grade level I need to break this down grammatically so that it becomes even clearer than it already is or has to be. Trump is calling for the destruction of the Constitution and his installment as as Supreme Clown Dictator of something that would not be the United States.

But tell us how you interpret the words. Perhaps a comma or some other perceived innuendo makes it all super cool and vote-worthy to the 70M..??

It is wierd how the party that is supposed to be Pro Constitution can't even understand a threat against it.

Trump has always worked to undermine the constitution.

Anyone remember the President for Life quote while he slobbered over China's Xi?

In a rare pseudo-walk back, Trump is saying that in spite of the fact that he clearly stated he wanted to "terminate" rules in the Constitution, he doesn't want to terminate the Constitution. Basically, he's still in psychotic denial that he won in 2020, and we should just give him exactly what he wants, how he wants it, rules be damned. More reckless self-indulgence from the Loser-in-Chief.

I think what's more telling is that Trump (for what may be one of the very few times) is walking back on a statement in an attempt to damage control.

But, we already knew that...

there are no less antisemites at the Dems, as in the front, in the back, below you and above you. Don't profile antisemitism.

I relate to that sentiment. In the Netherlands, we've got a small alt-right group/party called Forum for Democracy (just as democratic as the DDR used to be). I fundamentally disagree with just about everything this part stands for. But I do talk to its members and even call some of them my friends. I believe the solution must always be to keep talking to each other. And the funny thing is, if you peel away all the layers of complete bull, we fundamentally agree on how society would need to work for its citizens. I think it is important to know how the "others" think, their train of thought and see if there is some common ground to build upon.

It can be updated without the hand wringing. Look at the latest SCOTUS decision dragging this country into the 1950s! Although I do applaud them for finally introducing Christian Sharia law through legal means

That's pretty funny. Assuming you're being facetious and making light of how thin his dumb excuses are. My favorite is how the DOJ is conspiring against him when judges he appointed himself rule against him.

Personally, I think all the big L's the candidates he has promoted in this 2022 mid-term cycle has totally trashed him in actual political circles.
All actual politicians care about is getting elected, and being supported by Drumph now is the kiss of death.
Now we can add Hershey Highway Walker to the list of losers.
His fifteen minutes of fame are now circling the toilet.
The MAGA circle is now being more and more marginalized.
The King of the MAGAs has no clothes.

The kleptocracy of the rich and their control over US democracy means that this will never happen.
They truly want a class of haves and a class of have nots.
They think of themselves as makers and the rest as takers.
Every action they take reinforces this.
The poor on the right buy into the "greed is good" mantra because they all feel some day they're going to be the rich guy calling all the shots.
Perhaps it's a good sign that poor people can still afford vanity, but not much else.
Meanwhile, Drumph sits on a gold plated toilet seat.

I'll know Trump's done when the morons with the "Trump Won" and "Trump 2024 (and 2020)" flags take them done.
And that day is coming. I would love to be able to watch when they do that.

Trump will be done when his ability to raise funds from his followers diminishes. Until then, he'll have a lot of influence over the GOP, even if personally discredited.

Many of his candidates lost this election. The "red wave" turned into a red drip with all the MAGA election deniers as candidates. Even the ones who he didn't endorse but took their cue from his playbook lost. And, even meeting with anti-Semites and praising racists and dictators and calling for the Constitution to be suspended, the Republican party is still afraid to stand up to him. That says a lot. More important to show unity than character.

See, in this delusional world trump and his followers/voters live in, the Constitution only applies to losers. Because either 1) He thinks the Law does not apply to him, and 2) His followers/voters want to toss it and overthrow democracy. I do like the post about the 2nd being tossed out as well......
