Am I the only one who really likes this track. I really liked the 2021 and 2022 races and without the chicane it will really separate the men from the boys. We could see some accidents as its basically a double Copps now.
We’re finally at a real race track (with gravel!) instead of just another (semi) street track.
Some points.
- Good showing by McLaren with Lando in P3 and Piastri making Q3.
NOR was stating the car is very well in high speed corners and it’s great to see him back in P3
- Something has got to be wrong with Leclerc or his car, him qualifying in P19 shocked me. Sainz is outdriving him this year despite his bad luck.
LEC was complaining about the rears, for some reason he couldn’t get the car work.
- Perez has a shot a P2 tomorrow but he has shown he can't handle the pressure.
Again outdriven by his teammate all weekend isn’t great. Also he was lucky in Q1 ending just above the elimination zone at 15th position and lucky because LEC did even worse.
- Stroll outqualified Alonso and has a good shot finishing ahead of him.
ALO had some damage after going wide in Q1, so a very quick lap wasn’t possible. Still a good qualifying by STR.
- Alpine looks strong and a solid P5 on the grid.
With McLaren the surprise of this weekend. Last week a very good performance and again in top 10.
- The Russell, Hamilton collision I hope was a miscommunication. I think Hamilton should have qualified higher and there was probably a bit of floor damage. He will start P4 because of a 6 place grid penalty for Gasly.
The latest update seems to have some secrets for RUS, while HAM has found the sweet spot. RUS was complaining a lot during qualifying and definitely not happy, while HAM did very well.
GAS going down 6 places is just not good.
Looking forward to tomorrow.
Yep! VER is another league but with the recent updates and some weird qualifying results, I suspect a nice race with a lot of pit stops. Let’s see what PER can do.
