Yet another mass shooting in the US not in Cali

Sun Jan 22, 2023 10:16 pm

This time in Baton Rouge.

12 people injured, 1 in critical condition. I hope they all make it.

I mean at this point, I guess we can only shake our heads, move on, solute those who refuse to understand that yes, guns do kill people.

12 shot, no one killed, all stable, at a nightclub at 1:30 in the morning sounds more like a gang dispute than an active shooter, IMO.

And the PD already said so "The shooting is not believe to be random".

Ok, not necessarily gang-related but this is also not some random crazy idiot walk into a nightclub and decided to just shoot everyone just b/c he can. No, sounds more like some stupid dispute / argument follow by idiot who decided to "solve" all the problem with gun.

Only in America can someone shoot 12, and not be called an active shooter.

I am sure the people that got shot will appreciate knowing the shooter had a motive.

The best ending in these situations is to disarm the shooter, and take them directly to the medical examiner / morgue. No hospital visit, no arrest necessary. Directly to autopsy.

And round up the shooter’s family for interrogations.

Indeed. I also especially liked this bit:

Nope. Just an every day person in the US doing what so many others do. Perfectly normal.

All saId. Mass shootings have become a fad/sport in the US and until conservative politician s join the liberal politicians it will just get worse.

Unfortunately I have zero hope that the conservative politicians will lift a finger to help clean up this national terror. There is simply too much political cash that conservatives won't give up.

Just to show how numb I've become also as an American.

Plus 1am at a nightclub and shootings? It happened so often that yes, as an American I shrugged it off.

How did we also miss the following mass shootings:

8 dead Enoch Utah https://edition.cnn.com/2023/01/05/us/e ... index.html

6 dead Goshen Califormia https://edition.cnn.com/2023/01/18/us/g ... index.html

5 dead High Point North Carolina https://www.wral.com/police-3-minors-2- ... /20661902/

4 dead Cleveland Ohio https://www.cleveland19.com/2023/01/14/ ... olice-say/

Given the area and amount of gang activity, this is the most logical answer.

Not sure why we discuss every mass shooting.

Why not have a single 'thoughts and prayers' thread.

Phew, that's a huge relief. You can go back to sleep now.

A close relative of your has just been killed by a stray bullet, but it's only a gang dispute, so no problem. :sarcastic:

Why bother with interrogations? Just shoot all of them as well. And their neighbours, because they must have known as well.

A somewhat controversial solution, in the very very long run, could be to implement three policies from the MAGA crowd:

1. Remove all state sponsored medical support and fully privatize healthcare thus excluding a majority of the country from health services or at least force them into crippling debt
2. Remove all social benefits and any social support in general and therefore massively increase the size of the population that is forced into poverty
3. Remove all gun control and make them available to anyone wanting one

Now in the short term this solution will of course skyrocket the amounts of shootings and crime rates will exceed anything ever thought possible but the massively increased homicide rate will over time start to regulate itself. Most possibly we would see a pretty large contraption in US population. It will also cause a flight of the middle and upper middle class out of the US as it would not be safe enough anymore to be there and they would not have the means to buy enough protection to live the American Dream.

Then when there are only super rich and dirty poor left, policies will change because super rich are not ideology driven, they are calculative and the only way at this point to stay rich is to disarm the country, which will be enacted and enforced as there will be no gun loving person left. The only ones left are super rich, that do not need any as they will be protected by the state and then there will be the criminals, thugs and poor people that all have them but because they will have no more say, they will just have to follow suit and give up their guns.

In the meantime the civilisation can watch the freakshow unfold on live TV generating billions in revenue for the media companies.

I did actually start a US Mass Shooting thread a while back, as it was actually getting tedious seeing so many active threads from the many shootings. It was used for a while, seems to have been forgotten now.

Thankfully no one was killed here, and reports are that all injured parties are stable. I do believe there is a difference between two gangs going at it in a nightclub and a random person murdering any innocent person that he can see.

It's well known that the former's bullets hurt less.

And didn't take long for one that is in Cali...

https://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/p ... y/3137085/

This time it's a 67yo Chinese man. Before this there was that shooting in the church in OC that was also committed by some old Asian man...

They're truly being Americanized I guess :(.

Now we have the school shooting in Iowa:

At this point I don't even know whether to make a new thread... :(

How did we miss them? Mass shootings are so ubiquitous in the USA that there's no point. Might as well have a thread asking about sunrise each day, that's less common!

It's just odd that we have a thread about a mass shooting when nobody died and not threads about mass shootings with multiple deaths.

Someone did start one for mass killings in the US, I think. I don't know why people did not just use that.

That was me, that thread is now locked. No idea why it wasn't carried on with, would have been much more efficient.
