Indeed. I also especially liked this bit:zakuivcustom wrote:this is also not some random crazy idiot
Nope. Just an every day person in the US doing what so many others do. Perfectly normal.

And round up the shooter’s family for interrogations.

Why not have a single 'thoughts and prayers' thread.

Phew, that's a huge relief. You can go back to sleep now.
A close relative of your has just been killed by a stray bullet, but it's only a gang dispute, so no problem.

A somewhat controversial solution, in the very very long run, could be to implement three policies from the MAGA crowd:
1. Remove all state sponsored medical support and fully privatize healthcare thus excluding a majority of the country from health services or at least force them into crippling debt
2. Remove all social benefits and any social support in general and therefore massively increase the size of the population that is forced into poverty
3. Remove all gun control and make them available to anyone wanting one
Now in the short term this solution will of course skyrocket the amounts of shootings and crime rates will exceed anything ever thought possible but the massively increased homicide rate will over time start to regulate itself. Most possibly we would see a pretty large contraption in US population. It will also cause a flight of the middle and upper middle class out of the US as it would not be safe enough anymore to be there and they would not have the means to buy enough protection to live the American Dream.
Then when there are only super rich and dirty poor left, policies will change because super rich are not ideology driven, they are calculative and the only way at this point to stay rich is to disarm the country, which will be enacted and enforced as there will be no gun loving person left. The only ones left are super rich, that do not need any as they will be protected by the state and then there will be the criminals, thugs and poor people that all have them but because they will have no more say, they will just have to follow suit and give up their guns.
In the meantime the civilisation can watch the freakshow unfold on live TV generating billions in revenue for the media companies.

How did we miss them? Mass shootings are so ubiquitous in the USA that there's no point. Might as well have a thread asking about sunrise each day, that's less common!

Someone did start one for mass killings in the US, I think. I don't know why people did not just use that.

It's just odd that we have a thread about a mass shooting when nobody died and not threads about mass shootings with multiple deaths.
