SC GOP propose death penalty for women who have abortions

Tue Mar 14, 2023 2:10 am

Hard to beat the murderous bloodlust of the pro life crowd:

South Carolina GOP lawmakers propose death penalty for women who have abortions
https://thehill.com/homenews/state-watc ... abortions/

"The bill being considered in South Carolina, dubbed the South Carolina Prenatal Equal Protection Act of 2023, would redefine “person” under state law to include a fertilized egg, giving it at the point of conception equal protection under the state’s homicide laws, including the death penalty."

Look, it's very important that the state of South Carolina be able to prosecute 12-year-old girls raped by their fathers should they miscarry under suspicious circumstances. To protect innocent life, you see.

Not saying that they will, of course. Just that they should be able to. Just in case.

I know the answer, but it's simply amazing how this medeval crap is allowed to go down at the state level.

That’s so absurd it’s beyond my comprehension. Christian Taliban indeed.

Will we be the generation that has to conclude, that the Sharia law is actually more human than some US state laws?

More FUD to blur the lines, resulting in doctors being afraid to do the right thing. See also the recent Texas lawsuit where a woman had to contract sepsis before a hospital board would approve the removal of her unviable fetus.

Sadly the GQP long ago realised that elections at the state level are much easier to control, with something like a third of seats being uncontested, and so all they had to do was shut down legislation at the federal level and then run amok at the state level.

My niece here in New Jersey had a baby at 24 weeks of development. Fortunately she had the baby delivered in an emergency procedure, both her and her son are very much alive. Now if she had a situation where the baby died or was dying with no chance of survival, herself in danger of dying so an abortion was needed, it could be done as lived in the right state. I am very afraid that many women will be facing a death penalty that may be more torturous than given to adults on death row are facing as can't get a legal abortion in these 'handmaiden' states like South Carolina. That will be as 'it is gods will', the mythical Jesus Christ was executed and by politicians to get votes in their elections.

Wow!!! This is horrible. We will need to start cutting off funding to these states. We are seeing many red state refugees who are women coming to blue states. It is sad that people are trying to create a real life Handsmaid Tale in the U.S.

No you should allow immigration of young women. They're probably not the ones pushing for that crap (some are, of course), and the sex imbalance should enrage the men in these states (whereas women cope fine without enough men...). And of course declining birth rates there would help too.

And in Texas, where abortion is all but illegal, if you have assistance going out of state to get an abortion, some rando Texan can sue whoever assisted (maybe someone drove with you, maybe you stayed at their house because you felt like total shit, maybe you waited outside to console them after a terrible unwanted but necessary for them ordeal).

Texas wants its woman isolated and subservient.

It could form the basis of a Supreme Court challenge. There is long standing precedent about "vague" laws being unconstitutional. The idea being you can not make things so blurry and hard to comprehend it prevents people from feeling confident to carry out otherwise legal activities. Hopefully even this Court would side with citizen's rights on this issue.
