Prudential Tower in Boston Announces Open Date for New Observation Deck

Wed May 31, 2023 6:30 pm

An opening date of June 15 has been announced for the new three level observation deck at the Prudential Tower in Boston. The new View Boston attraction replaces the Skywalk Observatory on the 50th floor and the Top of the Hub Restaurant on the 52nd floor that closed in 2020. The 52nd floor will be an indoor space with floor to ceiling windows while the 51st floor will have an outdoor viewing terrace and an indoor/outdoor lounge. The 50th floor will contain an interactive exhibition space and a bistro. Tickets will start at $35 for general admission and this includes access to all three levels of the new attraction. This looks to be an exciting tourist attraction for sure.

I enjoy observation decks. Looks like something interesting to fill in an hour or two next time I visit Boston. Is Eataly still operating at the Pru?

Boston’s doing such an awful job modernizing. Everything is ticky tacky corporate and nothing is done to support our local family owned businesses.

Remember when there used to be a vibrant music and art scene here? This city is losing its identity quickly.

Glad to be of the last generation that at least got to experience this town when it meant something to be from here.

The Burj Khalifa in Dubai is over $40, Top of the Rock in New York City around $40, The Shard in London is $35-40, the Empire State Building is $44, the Space Needle in Seattle is almost $40, the Sears Tower in Chicago is about $32, the John Hancock Center in Chicago around $32, One Vanderbilt, One World Trade Center, and 30 Hudson Yards all in New York City in New York City are almost $40, and the CN Tower in Toronto is I believe around $40.

Yea and those are all new and/or actual skyscrapers.l with a view. The Pru is just an old building that’s barely 50 stories tall.

The Space Needle is not as tall as the Prudential Tower and is roughly 2 years older. The Space Needle underwent a major renovation in 2017-2018 and the observation deck there remained open to the public during renovation works. So, I could see the new Prudential Tower observation deck becoming a popular attraction.

The Space Needle is a salt shaker compared to the Prudential Tower. Bring someone to Seattle for the first time, and they'll almost certainly say "oh, it looks so much bigger in the football games."

$35 is cheap for that sort of thing, it sounds like they're going to make it a neat experience. I'll definitely check it out.

The Skywalk Observatory on the 50th floor of the Prudential Tower had a general admission fee of $21 when it closed in March 2020.
