Image Change For Airliners.net?..!

Fri Apr 09, 2004 3:24 am

Hi everyone,
I am member of airliners.net since two days ago; however, its being my favorite website for more than 3 years. Airliner is known as the biggest aviation site in the internet, as a result ( personal opinion ) the upper menu bar shows a 747 airplane.....
--------
the question that came to my mind when airbus launched the presentation of the new A380 was if by any chance they (airliners.net)will replace the 747 by the A380 in the upper menu bar ?......
.......................................
in my opinion both aircraft deserve the best, but one will be the chosen one...
....unless , the website finds way to show both planes .....

I love you barranquilla!!!!!

This has been discussed before, actually I'm happy with A.net's current looks.

Image change perhaps--- but here is what I would like to see in the dicusssion forms:

On the right side, a database that allows us to look up airline codes or airport codes. I like to think I know quite a few airline/airport codes, but there is no way I can remember all. I guess the right hand bar would allow me to type in a code to find out what the discussion entry is talking about. A link to glossary of terms would be great as well.

That's all I am interested in, really  Big grin

Best,

Wasim / Planemannyc

I just want to clarify that that I am just talking about the aircraft itself...

The configuration its very easy, and I like the way it is.....

Planemannyc. For airline and airport codes, nothing beats http://www.wajb.freeserve.co.uk/codes.htm. Not quite on A.nut, but I have it open in another window.

As for the 747, it looks cool and does not need to be replaced. And with that I hope not to spark off an A vs B war Big grin

Planemannyc,
With regard to the airport codes that come up in discussions, if you move your cursor over the code and leave it there briefly, the airport name appears (most of the time anyway) same thing for airline codes too. I'm sure you'll find this a useful feature.

Well... I posted "K.I.S.S." earlier in this thread, but it got deleted for being too short. Whatever.

I guess I'll have to spell it out to avoid confusing any more Mod braincells.

What I like best about these forums (and the site in general) is the cleanliness of the design. Profiles, animations and other extras just detract from the conent.

It was once stated something like this:
Does Nike change their logo after a new product launch?
Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, Staten, Uptown, what now? Lets make it happen.

No offense, but why are always short-time members coming up with this?
It has been a trademark logo for much longer than you have been around. It is the unmistakeable brand logo of a.net. Leave it as it is. Thanks for your attention and once again, please don't be offended. Big grin

To hell with putting an A380 up there. Just because it's bigger doesn't mean it's in any way more deserving.

N766UA, don't sit on the fence! Tell us what you really think  Big thumbs up

Once the A380 is flying, why not have a member survey with three choices (I say these, because these are the three planes normally suggested) - B747, A380, Concorde.

Why not a C5 Galaxy or a DC3 or a F14 or a ??????? or reverse the question: why a A380 or why a Concorde?

Just leave the good old 747 as "our" logo.

"The 747 logo has been our logo for 25 years, No need to change it now!!!"

"We've only been up 8 years sir."

"I DON'T CARE!!!!"

In other words, It is a great logo, and I think it should stay. After all, the 747 was the FIRST Jumbo-Jet in the skies, and remains the prestigious airplane that it is today. Just because the A380 is bigger doesn't mean Jack Schitt.

The image should never be changed - it looks great as it is. If it has to be changed then please do not put an A380 there! It's ugly! Big grin

I'm not sure if this point has been made before:

If the 747 is to be taken off the front page, we should at least wait until it is at the end of its lifetime and is leaving service with the airlines. At that point, it would be good to change the logo to a more modern plane that is more important in the aviation world at that time. In the meantime, with the 747 still the "Queen of the Skies", why change the logo?

I would be against replacing the 747 logo with anything else. It simply has a 'presence' from front on which is very unique, and in my opinion very pleasing.

No adds right now.....

Seriously, no adds are appearing anywhere on this site now that I have Norton. This is awesome! Can life get any better??

Oh yeah, keep the 74' up top. I love that thing. It's a classic.
I'd rather be flying (real original)
