Could Anyone Correct This Airline Code On A.net?

Thu May 11, 2006 3:10 pm

I've been wondering, and being aware that all the IATA airline codes are not up to date, if you could fix the code NM, which currently stands for Mount Cook Airlines? Since NM is now used by Air Madrid from Spain and topics on Air Madrid are getting more and more frequent, it would be most useful if the IATA code for Air Madrid, which is NM, appears as Air Madrid when we go with the mouse over the NM, so people might not get confused.

- Richie

EDIT: I checked airlinecodes.co.uk and it lists the NM code as a controlled duplicate for Mount Cook Airlines and Air Madrid. Just as FYI for when you can fix it.

Richie,

Thanks for letting us know, I will update the NM code later when I am at home, I am at work currently and I don't have the (bookmarked) link to the airline code database at the moment.

Fixed!

I added Air Madrid since the NM code is a controlled duplicate for Mount Cook Airlines and Air Madrid.

Can they not just download the codes etc from an OAG disc ? Save doing it by hand, and that way all the codes (airlines and airports) would stay up to date.

On the topic of airline codes, WU currently appears as Wuhan Airlines (China). However, it is also the code for Tikal Jets in Guatemala. Would you be so kind to add it, please?

And I know it's not your area, but could you tell the database editors to take a look at this other request? Big grin

Unfortunately the airport code updates will have to wait a bit. We've got a number of editors on holiday, including the head database editor. As far as I know, he's the only person with the ability to add new airports.

Thanks for your patience,

Nimish, I can't be too specific but I'd say within a week or two. The only trouble is that they will have a large backlog of emails to attend to immediately upon their return. Send an email to [email protected] with your most important requests and I'll try to see that it's prioritized.

While you're at it, could you fix EAU? It's for Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Also add STP. It's Holman Field (aka, St. Paul Downtown Airport) in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Thanks.

Ref the "mouse-over" for airports:

This list is taken from the photo upload list and only those airfields are listed for the mouse-over that are present on the photo upload list. We do not intend to just copy some list because all airfields are verified and sources compared before they are listed. All sources do have disagreements or imperfections and we try to filter them out before listing them. But then you have the best names available on the internet!

Regarding the request for adding some Indian airports: the following have now been added:
Bangalore (- Hindustan) (BLR / VOBG)
Chennai (Madras) (- Meenambakkam) (MAA / VOMM)
Hyderabad (- Begumpet) (HYD / VOHY)
Kolkata (Calcutta) - Behala (VEBA)
Kolkata (Calcutta) - Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International (Dum Dum) (CCU / VECC)
Mumbai (Bombay) - Chhatrapati Shivaji International (Sahar / Santa Cruz) (BOM / VABB)
Mumbai (Bombay) - Juhu (VAJJ)

The "SAL airport code problem" mentioned above has now been solved, see that thread.

St.Paul - Downtown has now been listed as:
St. Paul - Downtown / Holman Field (STP / KSTP)
Eight photos to go and it will also appear in the selection list!

And finally, I have also listed Eau Claire as:
Eau Claire - Chippewa Valley Regional (County) (EAU / KEAU)
although there is not much reason for adding this as there is not yet a single picture from there!

I think I have covered all airfield requests above. I hope you are all happier persons now!  Smile

A recent addition to my knowledge of airline codes, XP is showing Casino Express, which is now Xtra Airways.

Not that Xtra Airways is talked about a lot, but I know a lot of people come to airliners.net for the most up-to-date information.

How about changing 9E from Express Airlines I to Pinnacle Airlines. Express changed their name when they were spun off from NW in the early 2000s. I think Shuttle America's S5 code isn't listed either, so maybe that could be added. GB is still listed as Airborne Express, maybe that should be changed to ABX Air.

I believe 9E still reads as "Pinnacle" instead of Endeavor Air.

Seeing that VX still reflects ACES (Columbia) and the discrepancy was pointed out (8 years 4 months 2 weeks 3 days 11 hours ago) I think that it is safe to assume that requests on this thread are not being fulfilled.

Should we report these in the BUGS thread Report The Bugs Here (Part 8) (by moderators Sep 14 2014 in Site Related) ?
