Is It Me Or Are There Less Messages In Non-Av?

Tue Mar 04, 2008 8:10 pm

Hi guys !

Some months ago you just had to wait 30 sec. and there were at least 10 new messages now you have to wait about 5 min. to get a new one !

What going on ?! Have I missed something ?

Yes, you must have missed a whole lot of threads right in this forum. Quite a few a.netters who helped make non_av interesting have posted in those and are posting much less in non_av.

Right now there are -1 posts in every thread here. Maybe they should stop with front page redesigns until they get this working again.
I love ASO!

I would start HERE, and if you don't find enough reasons there, I'm sure some of the "other" sites can enlighten you.

I've noticed it too. Non-av has slowed down a lot. Usually the most active users were posting around 150-200 a week. Now we only have one person over 100.

Oh, on a side note, B747forever is banned so there goes about 1/3 of the posts in non-av.  Wink

Ahh yes, you are correct!

That could be the reason. But still, it seems weird that non-av has slowed down this much.

A brief History of A.net:

Knowlegeable users contribute to and build up Civil Aviation

Not-so-knowledgeable users invade Civil Av repeatedly posting the same questions, i.e. "When will NW retire the DC-9's?"

Knowlegeable users retreat to Non_Av

A.net brings in new management

Users in Non-Av combine their efforts and start other websites

what's the point in posting anymore?

There has been a crack down on anything boarding on non-politically correct. Many threads have been nuked because they were too "inflammatory" and potentially insulting. It's sad, because there use to be a lot of great debates, unique and very funny humor, and awesome interaction. ...Not so much, any more. Things are just too sanitized.

If it wasn't for Mil-Av I wouldn't even be a member, anymore. Oh well, there are other sites that are starting to capture my attention more, such is life.

Nope, no crackdown.
I'm sorry if the perception is otherwise people are listening to un-founded rumours and 2nd hand gossip, but even with the organizational edits and clarification to the rules recently our stated rules and policies have not changed significantly for years.

Should someone have an honest question and concern regarding a notice they received or policy/rule we'll always address polite inquiries to our email.
[email protected] for general stuff
[email protected] for appeals or specific stuff for the 3 head mods (yes, administration passively reads that address too)
They'll be addressed over e-mail because of the personal nature of many such inquiries and well such topics rapidly tend to go off on many tangents or become insulting towards different parties. We'll answer everything presented in a respectful and mature manner (see the many previous messages on giving us a heads-up if we may have missed something).
Should there be a need to update things or change something we'll post such an announcement in the site related from the "Moderators" account. I know some people are probably not happy with that communication policy, but that's what developed over years of experience.

Unfortunately I now have to lock this, something I'm sure some might have an issue with as well, but there's been a continuing issue with tangential or flamebait postings. One last time, I know many people have issues with various things, we will address your e-mail queries with the same courtesies you show us and/or work hard to address any mistakes or oversights. We understand the failure to do so does not bode well for Airliners
