Report The Bugs Here (Part 1)

Sat Apr 10, 2010 3:42 am

I mentioned this a couple of months ago, but it never got fixed. On the homepage, in the photo search section, if you select to search by country/airport, the scroll bar is cut off on the screen. On the other selections above it, about half of it is cut off. It is cut off in Firefox, but it isn't cut off in Internet Explorer. This has been reported in "A Few Changes" forum, after you changed the home page.

I can't get on Airliners.net using Firefox 3.5. Starts to load and then stops immediately, without having actually loaded anything. It works fine with every other browser (currently using Safari).

I'm currently running Windows XP SP3, Firefox 3.5.6.

Have you tried upgrading to the latest build of Firefox, as the current build is 3.6.3. That may help you.

When you look at a member's profile page, the far right-hand side of the profile page is invisible. In some cases members have fair amounts of information in their profiles. Information and text then merely “disappears” under the far right border, making it impossible to read what some members have listed as info in their profile pages.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Complete oppposite problem here -- using Safari 4.0.5 I can't even view most of the forums (when I'm logged in) because the «server unexpectedly dropped the connection»... Works fine in Firefox 3.6.3

Using Safari the Civil Aviation forum works fine, whether I'm logged in or not. Using Firefox everything works, whether I'm logged in or not.

I prefer to use Safari and Firefox is just my backup browser, so I'd much appreciate if a solution to this problem could be found!! It's been like this ever since the big site update and it's getting quite annoying - since Safari worked just fine before that update.

I had to delete cookies yesterday (not because of a.net) and there has been an annoying little problem since.

I like to compose on the white ground and did so yesterday after the cookies deletion - clicking the icon to make it white.

It used to be that this was "remembered" - that once I had made that first "white" post, the box was always white for me.

Not so now, It reverts to the default blue after every post I make.

Sigh.

For me, the feature which allows you to see if one your messages was quoted (you know, when you view the compressed posts) doesn't work any more...

Edit: spelling, and the spellchecker also doesn't work, instead it makes the page scroll down as far as possible. Others have experienced the same problem.

Another issue with viewing albums...

When you're on the a.net homepage and click on "Latest Photo Album", some times you get to see the photo which was displayed on the homepage first, and sometimes you have to dig through the entire album to find it.
I think most users want to view that photo and not necessarily the entire album.

And, as I just noticed, sometimes the photo on the homepage is not contained in the "Latest Photo Album" at all...

Then, not a bug, but a suggestion for improvement: When sorting photos in the search engine, there is the option "Year (oldest / newest first)". Maybe that could be extended to incorporate month and day? That would be really nice and make things easier when you are looking for the very latest/oldest photos.

I've got an interesting problem. I am logged in, and it recognizes that on all forums EXCEPT CivAv. There, it says I am not logged in. Even when I try to post something, it prompts me to enter my name and password, but does not accept it, so in essence I cannot post in CivAv. However, it works fine in NonAv, Site Related, Trip Reports, etc.

Also, on CivAv, it has the "Login" button at the top, showing I am not signed in. Whenever I click on it, it says that I AM already signed in as SW733, but then when I go to post, I have the issue I mentioned above. This too is only on CivAv - all others, it has the "Logout" button at top, reflecting the fact that I am in fact already signed in.

I switched computers and had forgotten my password.
I tried to retrieve it and each time it gave me the same code to enter.
When entered, the response was the code was expired, try again. I had just picked up the code from my e-mail.
Problem not an issue now as I found my original password.

I reported in the Jan/Feb release thread (post 295) that the new forum code had taken away the ability to center align text in tables. Then in reply 330 (B) of that thread I was informed that a a few crew had tested a solution and it was hoped that there was a resolution to this. It has been over two months since then and I have not heard anything. Can someone explain what is the problem with allowing users to center-align text in their tables? Thanks in advance.

On that point, would it also be poissible to inclujde instructions in the "Help" section on how to include a table in a thread reply. That would be very useful as it is very tedious to try to line up data in columns manually. I have often seen nice neat tables in replies but have no idea how to do it. I am very familiar with working with tables in MS Word.

P.S. I am also still waiting for a response to problems raised in the earlier "Bugs" thread 2 or 3 months ago.

The quote function is still not functioning properly. I will quote various users, then when I scroll down to type my post, I am finding A LOT of quotes that I never quoted, quotes that have been wrongly attributed, etc. Today, I had not yet logged in and was quoting some posters. When I scrolled down to enter my post, not only had it added several quotes that I had not requested, but someone else's draft was already pre-filled in the space provided. This issue has been going on for several weeks now and remains unresolved.

Guys,

Sorry I don't have time to go through all previous messages so I'm sorry if someone wrote about this before. When I open a thread, I already have bunch of messages "quoted" although I never hit the quote button and I never planned to send a reply. Why is this happening?

Thanks.

P.S. I work in IE 8 and it happens on my work computer (Windows XP SP3) and my home computer (Windows 7).

Quoting OA412 (Reply 46):
The quote function is still not functioning properly.
Quoting BEG2IAH (Reply 47):
I already have bunch of messages "quoted" although I never hit the quote button and I never planned to send a reply.
Quoting A342 (Reply 44):
Maybe that might help you to find out more.

Thank you we are looking into these for you. OA412 and BEG2IAH is it just quotes that you can see or other text as noted in reply # 17?

Report The Bugs Here (Part 1)

Tue May 11, 2010 3:48 am

Quoting BEG2IAH (Reply 47):
Sorry I don't have time to go through all previous messages so I'm sorry if someone wrote about this before.

You don't have to apologize, it is has been oft suggested that a "known issues" list be published in this forum which would reduce duplicate bug reports. Without such a list that all can look at, people are bound to report the same issue over again, because, as you correctly surmise, no one has the patience to go through the 400 odd replies of the Jan/Feb bugs thread. Nevertheless, in case you are curious, the issue you mention was observed and reported about three months back, on Feb 7th, in Reply 243 of Comments And Questions Re: Jan/Feb 2010 Release (by Moderators Jan 28 2010 in Site Related) . So perhaps it is just as well that you are reporting it again.
