Same thing happened to me, yesterday and still again today. To date, I have not had any other problems accessing or using the site - like some others have, I just can’t replace an avatar.

Thank you atcsundevil for the fast response. All I can see is that other users are effected by the same no-avatar bug and there is no solution in sight.

Now, what else can we do than staying patient, calm and composed?

I’m glad I’m not the only one dealing with this. I’ve been trying to change mine for a while and I kept asking myself “why have I been blocked? I didn’t do anything wrong!”.

I just tried. Also blocked with the following message:

"Sorry, you have been blocked
You are unable to access airliners.net

Why have I been blocked?

This website is using a security service to protect itself from online attacks. The action you just performed triggered the security solution. There are several actions that could trigger this block including submitting a certain word or phrase, a SQL command or malformed data.

What can I do to resolve this?

You can email the site owner to let them know you were blocked. Please include what you were doing when this page came up and the Cloudflare Ray ID found at the bottom of this page."

This has been going on for a while now. I think we have to accept that the owners of this site no longer wish to make any investment in keeping it working, as this is one of several glitches that have gone unfixed.

Sad, as this was once a great site. Thankfully, there are many other aviation wesites around that actually work!

Please send your username and desired image to support@airliners.net. Please, primarely to replace the default avatar as dealing with a million avatar changes might be a bit too much. Changes will be dealt with but may take longer to process

Thanks for info, It works for some, and not for others. So the cause of the issue is hard to pinpoint.

When I try upload a picture for my profile I get sent to an error page which says:

Sorry, you have been blocked
You are unable to access airliners.net

At the bottom there is something which says Cloudflare Ray ID: 4f7e8010cfca6ab3

Everything else works fine, I can post on the forum etc. but I just can't change my profile picture.

I think it's just an issue affecting some users. I don't know if it's a browser issue or an account/site issue. Again, it's not really something that we as moderators are involved with, so I know about as much as you. The developers are aware of it, so if there isn't a fix yet, then all I can say is that hopefully there will be one soon.

I've tried multiple browsers and the same issue occurs. This looks like an acct/site issue.

So apparently, Yerbol's email had gone into my spam folder for some odd reason. Anyways, I just replied to him. Thanks for the heads up.

It is, and unfortunately I think the only recourse is to email support@airliners.net. I think they can change it. We've been told the developers are working on a fix, but that was a while ago.

If I had to guess, I’d say the avatar feature has been disabled intentionally. It’s not anything that needs a “fix”.

Why would we purposely disable a feature that causes us significantly more work? I think you need to familiarize yourself with the theory of Occam's Razor, which is essentially that the simplest solution is usually the correct one. The simplest explanation is: it broke, and the developers haven't gotten around to fixing it, just like a lot of things on this site. We definitely aren't interested in breaking the things that are working.

Count me among those who are having the 'BLOCKED' screen screaming at me when I try to upload my personal photo. In a sort of paradoxical way, I'm 'glad' to see that others have the same issue. Well, "Glad/Not Glad."

Same issue here with the "blocked" screen, not fussed enough to bother with e-mailing in an avatar.

An announcement when it gets fixed is more than sufficient for my needs.

It’s out of order so email the pic to support@airliners.net

But, when it works you will find it on the main page settings:

I get the following error: After uploading the new photo, I scroll down and click on "SAVE", which then results in a cloudflare-error-page.

Cloudfare-Error-Code: 549508b9080ffadf

It says: "Sorry, you have been blocked. You are unable to access airliners.net"

Hi there, just tried to send my own avatar in and the email got bounced back. The bounced back email said:

"Your email to group support@airliners.net was rejected due to spam classification. The owner of the group can choose to enable message moderation instead of bouncing these emails."

You might check the specs of the photo/graphic you are trying to upload. This website is stuck in the early-1990s in terms of technology, so accommodating modern photo/graphic files from iPhones, Androids, Macs & PCs are out of the question (without outside processing). The file size limit is very small and if the file is not a JPEG, the site doesn't like that either. As I recall, I had to do a lot of fiddling with my avatar graphic to get it to meet the site's specs.

Thanks. Yes, I had to reduce it to a 500x500 JPEG. It did upload to the settings page. But I am still showing the old avatar. Interesting you see the new one.

I did see it (a photo of you?). But now it has reverted back to your old avatar. Like I said, this website is firmly planted in the early-1990s, dragging along all the bugs we used to wrestle with back in those days.
