I have long wondered if this is somehow device or browser related so have started to test accessing website from layover hotel business centers.

I've tried 3 hotels over the last week and site displays not secure in all 3.
Two locations had PCs with Chrome and one has Apple desktop with Safari browser.

The A.net site simply does not redirect to secure https connection unless specifically typed in address bar. Simply entering
airliners.net brings up non secure site.

Did you literally only type “airliners.net” or have you also tried “https://www.airliners.net”?

I can't forcibly redirect it to the secure site, even after clearing cookies and history. It's strange because after the HTTPS rollout, it always defaulted to the secure site for me, but a few months ago, it would only take me to the unsecure site despite typing out the full url. A lot of people seem to be having this issue.

Interestingly enough, I just realized that I am back on the secure site. I haven't checked that for a few weeks, but while I was browsing I realized I am back on https. I am only accessing the site via www.airliners.net.

For myself it also continues as Not Secure.

If I enter www.airlines.net its always non-secure http connection. Does not automatically redirect to https

Additionally as atcsundevil mentions even attempting to enter https does not bring up secure connection - in my case probably more than half of attempts end up with non-secure http connection.
And the times I do manage to get https, it will very often reverts to non-secure http as I navigate across site usually when if I go between forum and photos or vice versa, or sometimes even within the forums.

The point is that there should be no way for users to access site as http and they should always be redirected to https connection. This is clearly not happening.

Super odd. I changed my bookmark links to ‘https’ when it rolled out and I’m always on a safe connection. No exceptions. Same on my phone (where I’m typing from now).

There clearly is an issue that needs to be addressed.

SIte remains non-secure http for a diverse number of users in different locations, using various browsers.

How come the owners of this site (which manage many websites) cannot figure this out is baffling. Having a proper secure site is in the best interest of both your site and its users.

I have sent a new request to management, somewhat harsh and that is all I can do.

I tried different scenarios and most of the time I had https, but twice I ended up on an unsecure login page, and that is the most important page to have https...

The right answer here is that they need to implement an automatic redirect for all http requests to go to https. Without actually looking into it, my first guess would be that there are some http links on the site, like links posted in the forum that are being copied and pasted by http users, that are causing users on https to get redirected to http without realizing. Redirecting everyone to https even if they ask for http would solve the issue.

Might be part of the truth, but I entered https://www.airliners.net several times, and on two occasions ended up on http

Redirect seem to be working more reliable, at least for me.

We got word from the devs they have adjusted SSL settings and redirect. Please check if you are able of getting a http page. Please state device and browser, thanks for all feedback received so far.

Indeed seems secure this evening on my end. Will monitor over coming days and try to use multiple devices and browsers.
Thanks

I have not been able of getting an unsecure connection, and the silence here seems like they solved it. I will tell the team to close the ticket.
But, should anyone come across a non secure page, then please email [email protected] with info on time, device, OS and browser.
