Trip report vs. flight report

Tue Jun 25, 2019 12:22 pm

Having never taken a good look at the Trip Report forum, I was a little surprised & disappointed to find merely reports about flight journeys. As this is mostly an aviation photography website, I expected trip reports to be about actual plane-spotting trips with a description of the airports that you visited, what planes you saw/photographed, which spotting locations are good (and bad), etc. Such info would be very valuable for fellow photographers planning future spotting trips (definitely more valuable than knowing what drink you had on your flight...).
I am curious how others feel about this and if it is something that could be added to this website in the future.

We cater to more than only aviation photography though (hence the discussion fora). The trip reports section has always been about people's flights and sometimes do have some non-av photos. Personally I'd be open to seeing spotting guide kind of trip reports in the existing subforum as well. Perhaps with a clear indication in the title (for example "[Spotting]" instead of "[Video]", so people know what they can expect. However, this is something the moderators would need to approve and absolutely not my call to make.
