Old Airliners.net

Mon Jul 22, 2019 2:49 pm

I see a lot of talk in the forums of people who want the old a.net to come back, well, now there is a solution.
go to web.archive.org , type in airliners.net, and the site displays the homepage (and a lot of other things that are clickable) of airliners all the way back until the creation date. It is breathtaking to see where it started to where it is now.
I imagine this will be a huge nostalgia hit for all the original site users who see this.
Have fun!

I should add, this isn't a click-bait for a virus/malware. this is 100% legitimate. I have no affiliation with the site in any way. I just thought it would be cool when I came across it :)

I often go on archive.org to see the old versions of websites. For example, I learned that YouTube was originally a dating site while looking at YouTube.com in a 2005 snapshot.

Airliners.net homepage in 1997: https://web.archive.org/web/19971222032 ... iners.net/
A page with some pictures submitted in 1999: https://web.archive.org/web/19991111202 ... earch=cool
And here's the forum homepage in 2001: https://web.archive.org/web/20010124060 ... scussions/

It appears to me that present day postings are more sophisticated and knowledgeable than back in the day. Myth quashed?
