Signatures go away

Wed Oct 20, 2021 3:19 pm

I noticed that signatures aren't showing up anymore. Is that by design or is that an error?

Due to countless issues with users abusing the signature line, they have now been disabled

Oh man, I missed the signatures. :( Bad things happen if you misuse them I guess...

Any chance of them coming back, or only being disabled for those who abuse them?

There is no option to disable it only for a selected group of people, hence they had to be disabled for all. As far as I am aware there is no plan to enable them again for the time being, but I don't want to rule it out in general.

To be quite honest, we've been fighting a battle for years with too many people on this issue. People have spent too much effort purposely abusing the function to make political statements or attacks on us, when it's supposed to be something fun or lighthearted. It became a lot of effort either trying to get people to change/delete them or go through the support team to have it removed (it's not something we have control over), so ultimately we decided it was best to disable the feature completely. It was becoming too divisive and difficult to regulate. I personally feel bad for the vast majority who were using it for its intended purpose, but as happens all too often, good things are spoiled by the few.
