This is one of a few great ideas we've had for new forums. Unfortunately we as moderators are unable to add or change the current forum format — it requires the developers to make those changes. We haven't had any interaction that I can recall with the developers in probably about three years now. They more or less only work on the site to keep it running these days, to our obvious dismay. That's why we've largely gone to a sort of "sub forum" arrangement in the Civil Aviation Forum with all of the region/airline/city focused threads, since that's something we can have control over. You're welcome to create a thread to create such a sub forum in Civ Av. You could call the thread "Airliner and Aviation History Thread - 2021". It might be a little all over the place with various possible topics discussed in the same thread, but unfortunately that's the only solution I can think to offer. There are a number of history buffs here would probably appreciate following such a thread, so it's a great idea.
