One of our flight sim instructors calls Airbus the "Citroën" after the famous French cars that are always full of novelties but somehow they always break down for some odd reason...

SD330/360 = Flying Shed

Early 737’s = Pig (short/fat)

HS Trident = Gripper (due to its reluctance to leave the ground)

Always thought the Death Cart 10 was a bit harsh and of course C150/152 are affectionately known as span cans.

The ongoing joke here at FLL are Delta Express's
"7dirty7"

And I think the names "Hanger Queen" and "Lead Slead" have at one point or another been applied too every aircraft that has taken to the air.

But it always fit best on the early L-1011s.

Piper Navajo- Navaslow

V-tail Bonanza- The Forked Tailed Doctor Killer

A320- Toulouse Lawnmower (remeber the airfrance missed-approach incident?)

Ive always called the Cessna 152's that i used to fly Lawnmowers With Wings--- b/c a lawnmower's blade produces more thrust than that prop.

Due to high number of turn arounds the first years in service (due to electrical problems), the A320 was known as the A180.

I thought the 737-200 was known as FLUF (fat-little-ugly- f*cker)

NW, I've also heard 757 is affectionately called 'rocket ship'...

The old Shorts 360 was called 'Boxcar' & 'Flying Winnebago'

The first fly-by-wire F16 fighters had a nasty habit of having their controls lock up, and were refered to as "Lawn Darts" .THAT is funny.
