Farchild 528, 728, And 928 Aircraft?

Wed Jun 23, 1999 10:01 am

Hi-

I was flipping through a very large copy of Flight International at the book store, deciding wheather or not to buy it when I saw an ad for a company called Fairchild. Not FarirchildDornier though. Just fairchild. They had three jets pictures. They called them the 528JET, the 728JET, and the 928JET. The 528JET says it has a capacity of 55-63 pax. The 728 70-85 pax, and the 928 85-105 pax. The 928JET or the 728JET seems like a good replacment for American's F100s when they decide to. Too bad they will only buy Boeings. But things change. I checked out their website at www.fairchildaerospace.com and it turns out that they have a wide variety of aircraft. They had a picture of a 728 or 928JET (I really can't tell) in Lufthansa colors. I have never heard of these or ANY Farirchild aircraft. The 528JET is said to be due out in 2004, the 728JET in 2002, and the 928JET in 2003. Why haven't I heard of these? Please give me more info. Do you think I will be seeing a lot of these in my furture in the United States fortuneteller?

Fairchild is the same company as FairchildDornier. They just launched the 528-928 jets which will be delivered only in 2002. Their 328 jet should be delivered in June/July this year. This is a derivative of the Dornier 328 with jet engines instead of turboprops. They are also planning to stretch this to the 428 which should be delivered in 2003 only. The 929 looks good for a Northwest DC-9 replacement. American might just buy the 737-600 to replace their F100.
