Sat Sep 08, 2001 1:47 am

Are these the only 2 airlines to operate the AN-124?

No, the Russian State also has some An124. Besides these three there are no other AN124 operators.

Also Polyot - they just got some ex Russian AF ones and are going to do the air-launch project with two of them.

Hi,

Moreover Poliet are still acquiring more and more (5 or 6 ) AN-124 from Russian AF which are going to refurbishment and technical adaptation for civil use.

Bien à vous,

Benjamin

Polyot's (Polet) new An-124's will be converted to the An-124-100 version and will enter service with the airline soon.

Lj:
When you say "Russian State", are you referring to Rossia airlines? Rossia sold all of its An-124's a while ago.

Antonov Design Bureau doesn't actually operate the An-124 (nor the An-225). These aircraft are operated by Antonov Airlines which is an independent operating division of the OKB.

Current operators of the An-124 are:

Volga-Dnepr
Antonov Airlines
Polyot
224 Flight Unit (Russian Air Force)

Other airlines to have operated the An-124 include:

Transaero
Ajax
Trans-Charter Airlines
Aeroflot
Titan Cargo
HeavyLift (in partnership with VD)

What happened to the Aeroflot AN-124's and why did they dispose of them?

I don't think Aeroflot ever operated An-124's. All of the Russian AF's An-124's carry its paint scheme, though.
