Not a problem for me, but most people like planes with fewer than twelve million cycles on them
True, most planes with 12,000,000 cycles are flying from those imaginary destinations like the intelligence of your posts.
Midwest Express' N700ME has had fewer reliability problems than N803ME and N805ME, and it's the oldest DC9 in service!
I have found their flight attendants to be some of the better in the industry
Now I'll preface this by saying that service is a conglomerate effort of the ramp agents, CSRs at the gates, and F/As; however, the following facts stack up against UA:
Examining the month of July alone, when UA's turnaround supposedly begain, here's the numbers:
UA cancelled flights: 1608
NW cancelled flights: 524
UA mishandled baggage reports per 1000 pax: 5.74
NW mishandled baggage reports per 1000 pax: 4.16
UA invol. denied boarding per 10000 pax: 1.31
NW invol. denied boarding per 10000 pax: 0.45
UA total complaints: 321 (an industry leader for the second consecutive year
*Excluding United Express
NW total complaints: 98
In fact, more of the complaints from UA originate from Customer Service related issues than do NW's!
Also, according to the DOT, United, remarkably has fallen behind Northwest in on-time arrivals by six spots for EVERY
month in 2001.
For the hubs, of which someone quipped that MSP, MEM, and DTW are 'grey and dreary,' Perhaps they've never visited ORD in January, or SFO in November. Or taken the fact that of hub cities, here's the comparison:
UA at ORD: 71.0% of flights on time
NW at MSP: 79.6% of flights on time
UA at DEN: 78.8% of flights on time
NW at DTW: 84.8% of flights on time
Memphis is not ranked, so we shall not venture there.
I'll let the DOT records, the fact that NW's scheduled service where United wishes to believe they dominate, the Atlantic market, has increased 16% over the previous year.
Now, for an airline that supposedly has horrid service, non-existent IFE, trashed hubs, and decrepid aircraft, it's amazing to see their Atlantic service have increased so drastically--considering there is a higher percentage of Biz travellers in the overseas market!
By the way, the IATA has named MSP the best airport in North America for the second consecutive year...what has United earned for two years in a row? The most complaints.
