This has to be a major blow to all airlines financially, specially now with the economy down. I think the feds are gonna have to take over airport security and reassure the american public that we wont become a missile.
what do you think of having armed guards on flights?
like in the movie pax 57, but then again baggage is still a threat. any thoughts.

Interesting... I asked about sky marshals and whether they were still around in an earlier thread. I was told that YES they were still used in the US.
I guess that they weren't used on the four flights that were lost today.

honestly, I may be new to this thread, but unless there are a few air marshals per every flight in the US (!!), an air marshal is just one man.
I have some degree of respect for our protectors but hi-jackers come in numbers. That's a whole lot of marshals!

I think the sky marshals in every commerical aircraft will be a reality! You can count on that! They thought about doing that during the gulf war. This has to be done no matter what the cost. Jesus Christ people, look at what happened today to those poor people on those fine aircraft and on the ground! I have been sick to my stomach all day thinking about it.

The feds need to take over security check points and all bags need to be x-rayed. We now need to make our security more like Europes. Passengers might not like but security needs to come before passenger comfort. I did hear on Fox News that sky caps will no longer be allowed to check bags at the curb all passengers will need to go inside. Allow at least 2 hours.

There's gonna be a ripple effect with all the cancelled flights. This affects all airlines going to / from US. It's be worse that the 1999/2000 milleminum bug fear.

I have a flight scheduled AUS to MSP (connecting at DFW) on Saturday and will still be going if circumstances allow. If I can't get out before noon on Sat, I won't be going as I'll miss the reason for my trip.

.Whilst it it still illegal to use one on the phone, because 'experts' consider the plane will fall out of the sky , can they now please explain , how the four aircraft involved DIDN'T. considering the amount of cellphone traffic at the time.
