Would This Tragic Event Crush Your Dream Of Flying

Sat Sep 15, 2001 5:52 am

This is what I came up after hearding the news:

Would you stop dreaming about being a pilot after all these tragic, horrible and terrible events that happened in New York?

For me, I would not give up.

What's yours?

No, to do so would be to let the scum who carried out these hi-jackings win.

I have aspirations of being a professional pilot. Prior to the hijackings, I was undecided on whether to be an airline pilot or a corporate pilot. Now, after the events of the past few days, I have decided that I will become a corporate pilot or attempt to become an airline pilot for an airline outside the United States if that is possible...but I certainly will not become an airline pilot in the United States now...

Offcourse not, and honestly I can't understand why this tragedy have made so many people afraid of flying.

This tragedy hasn't anything to do with flying in genaral, bacause the terrorists had used a boat, train or something if that had been more suitable for the attac. It was just because WTC is so tall etc that planes were used.
I don't think this was done to "hurt" airtravel. It was done to hurt "USA, the western world, and its economy".

So for me flying is just the same as it was before.
Terror is just something that can affect al kinds of comunication etc. and on Tuesday it was airtravel.

I gave up my dream of flying long ago because of the cost and my poor vision.
I would however not let this deter me had I still harboured hope. As already said, that would mean another victory for the terrorists.

NO, not in Australia at least. As for being a passenger I have had a mild fear of flying in the past, but I flew two days after the attacks and had no fear about being in the air at all.

Right now, I don't think it's a matter of wanting to fly for me, but is there going to be anyone to fly when I get there? I work for AirTran Airways in TOL and the past few days the amount of passengers coming to the counter for refunds were in groves....most of them I couldn't give refunds to, but the point is the fear in their eyes. I was happy to board 112 passengers out of 212 seats today. Unfortunately, I think that something happened here that happens too often in the USA, and that is we took flying for granted.

I totally agree with TG (I think..lol) to let my dream go of being a pilot...would be letting these SOBs win. I hope they rot in H*** and I hope whoever is responsible for this will too.

Just something to think about though for the scared fliers...When one goes to get on a train or a bus, do they have to present an ID to the boarder? Do these passengers have to go through a security checkpoint? Are the stations all fenced off with barbed wire all around them? Personally....I feel safer now then I ever did flying....just my 2 cents worth though.

Godspeed and Good luck to everyone!
