Your Favorite Airline Souveneir

Mon Jul 12, 1999 11:05 am

What is your favorite Saftey Card and other airline collectible? My favorite Saftey Card is American's 727-223 with pictures. My favorite Napkin is United's, with that Gray "U" in the bottom right corner. My favorite food carton is United's, with the USA Map and Compass. My favorite cups are Delta's Cup and United's Coffee Cup, with the "U" on one side, and the Starbucks Coffee logo on the other side. I kept plenty more things from the plane. I look back at these artifacts and remember my trip.

While all of the above are great items to grab, I actually like photographing the particular aircraft I am flying in. I have taken a photo of all the aircraft I have flown in since 1994!

I kept the menu, boarding pass, photos, and other things from my first 747 flight--UA 747-238 HNL-LAX. I do the same for other flights, too!

Probably my favorite airline collectable is an old Florida Express ticket jacket from when I flew them roughly 11 years ago. I found it lying around and asked my parents if I could keep it. I used to collect airline wings too. I have about every major U.S. airline except Midway. I used to have Eastern Airlines wings too, but I lost those (I can't believe I did that!). I also have a cup from TAESA Airlines of Mexico.

My favorite collectable is the salt and pepper shaker from Virgin Atlantic. They aer shaped like little airplanes and on the bottom of them they say pinched from Virgin Atlantic. You only get them in upper class so they will giv ethem to you when you spend that much money.

My favorite souvenir is a napkin, ticket, and boarding pass from the very last PanAm Shuttle.

Note to FlyCMH: If you will e-mail your mailing address to me, I'll send you a set of Eastern wings, free of charge.

I have almost every boarding pass and coupon that I have ever flown on. I also keep bag tags and and menus. I have never taken anything off the plane before but by mistake I pulled an Ansett New Zealand 737-100 safety card in 1988!! It got caught up in my n ewspaper in the seat pocket.

A JAL stewardess friend told me they never care about cutlery going missing - it's free advertising. When I worked at Air New Zealand engineering we used to have all sorts of cutlery from their flight kitchen - from other airlines flying into AKL.

Since about 1994 or so, I have saved all of my boarding passes, and now I have a collection of several hundred. Over half of them list ORD as either the origin or destination city! I also have a couple from DFW connections, several LAX connections, one or two JFK connections, and some non-stop JFK trips.

Cutlery. It's got to be. My cutlery draw is entirely full of the stuff, if it ain't got a logo it's out. Some of my friends have also stolen some for me, or got it by other means. Cubana, MEA, Finnair, SIA, Thai, JAL, Qantas, RAF, Pan Am, BEA, BOAC, Delta (from the 60s), KLM (from the 70s) etc etc. I have two boxes of Pan Am napkins, half a dozen Olympic [tray] tablecloths, half a dozen Cubana napkin rings, four Pan Am water glasses, four Pan Am shot glasses, four Eastern AL sherry glasses, tonnes of other cool stuff and my fave, a 1960s Pan Am stainless steel jug with the logo engraved. All I know is that it's been on a lot of 707s and probably served a lot of very famous people. What I want now is a catering trolley, preferably with a flight attendent attached. That's probably the ultimate souveneir.
fly Saha Air 707s daily from Tehran's downtown Mehrabad to Mashhad, Kish Island and Ahwaz

Does anyone have PanAm wings? Ive been looking for one that I got when I flew a 747-100 on a MIA-LAX.

Next to that my favourite souvenier is the LanChile hygene packs they give in 1st class.

My favourite napkin is the Continental napkin that says something like "This is the Thank You note for flying our airline"
