I was just wondering does anyone miss the Kai Tak airport and its very cool approaches as much as is I do?

I miss it because I NEVER GOT A CHANCE TO EXPERIENCE IT! That's unfair! Sad

Yeah really who doesnt! Proud to say my love for photographing was born at Kai Tak airport! So know I have a few of my enlarged Kai Tak pics on my wall witha chunk of concrete from the parking garage sitting ontop of my T.V. great to know I will atleast always have a piece of Kai Tak.

Cheers!

Kai Tak has got to be the most wonderful aircraft spotting and photography location in Asia and possibly the world.

Its amphitheatre setting with all manners of architecture cradling the foot of the mountains is unequalled.

The high point of my visits to Kai Tak has got to be Oct 22, 1997 when I finally managed to photograph Air France's Concorde on finals towards runway 13.

Certainly i am, really miss this wonderful airport with breathtaking approach.
I had my very last approaching to Kai Tak back in Dec 1997 on a Virgin Atlantic A340 flight VS200 from London Heathrow, it was unforgettable.

I do, I really do!!!!
I have been there several times, spent days and days togethet with other planespotters, I loved it!! It was reason alone to travel to HKG, even my girlfriend was fascinated when I finally managed to talk her into coming with me, and she is no aviation fan.
A warm Thankyou ex post to Sir Christopher Patten, though he didn't mean to do any harm.
A very sad Kaitak fan!
I know it's only VfB but I like it!

I was lucky enough to experiance Kai Tak. Unfortunatly that was only once back in March 97.. who woun't those wonderful approaches, and cramped apron??? (looks just like my room when I put my airplane models on the floor before I re-orginize them Smile)

We Love you Kai Tak!

I used to go to Kai Tak intermittently between the late 70's and yearly in the 90's all the way to its very last day. I have albums full of pics and a tile and fragment of police barricade tape from that last day.
Hell yes, it is sorely missed!
