CONCORD

Fri Dec 04, 1998 12:56 pm

Hi :

Does anybody have a chance to fly on Concorde.
Is it a wide-bodied or narrow-bodied aircraft ?
It seems that British Airways and Air France are two airlines which use in their service. Is there any other airline ? Thanks

Andy
You know you’ve landed with the wheels up when it takes full power to taxi.

The concorde is 2-2 seating (narrowbodied). BA and AF are currently the only airlines that use it. But Singapore Airlines and I belive Braniff (correct me if I am wrong, please) used them.

Correct those 4 airlines used/have used the concord . It is a narrow body aircraft , it accually seats less people than the 737-400 . I almost flew on it, it was on some world tour and I tried to get on it from LAX-SAN , it cost 700 dollars, I could have flown to London with that money. I decided not to.

Hey Jordan, if you think thats bad you should see the fares now.
From NY, a round trip will run you almost 7000.00
Thats right. I said seven thousand dollars.
I have a friend in the garment business who flies her to Paris every other month.

From memory, the Singapore Airlines concorde was a joint operation and
was painted on one side with their colours and on the other with
BA (or BOAC?) colours. I don't know about the Braniff deal.

I'm sure only British Airways and Air France have ever owned any. I
also read somewhere recently that Air France has withdrawn a couple of
theirs from service and use them for spares.

The Concorde flew only a couple of months for Singapore airlines, and it was a wet-leased BA aircraft, if i recall correctly.
Never heard of the Braniff Concorde, are you guys sure it flew for Braniff, which routes then, and from whom did they lease one?
Shiek!

Braniff was only interested in getting the concorde. However it never materialized and the deal was scrubbed with BA (I think). They wanted to do a lease like what Singapore Airlines did. The singapore airline aircraft was used on the SIN-BHR-LHR route once a week I think.

Hi

I got the chance to fly supersonically on Concorde back in 1992.
She is a truly fantastic aircraft. Very narrow on the inside.
The cockpit was a lot smaller and longer than i thought it would be.

5 course meal, champagne..........ahhhhhhhhhhh

Hi again

I also have a few promotional items on Concorde, mostly from my trip on it including a copy of the pilots flight plans.

I also have a promotional brochure from Braniff showing the aircraft inside and out, and a great shot of it taking off in their colours. I think the shot has been doctored as it never had the Braniff colours painted on it.
