Hong Kong Charts

Sat Dec 05, 1998 8:49 am

If anyone is interested in looking at the charts for the old Kai Tak airport, I have them in .jpg format on a .zip file. I can send you a copy.

If anyone is interested, post your e-mail address or e-mail me at:

Included are the airport detail maps, SID charts, and ILS/IGS approaches for both runways. The charts are in NOAA format (which I like a whole lot better than Jepp format).

I presume by the "old" Kai Tak airport you mean the one that just
closed, not the original one. Come to think of it, that might not have
been called Kai Tak. And they didn't have ILS in those days either.
Might have been quicker to just delete this paragraph.

Since I spent a lot of my childhood there, where I was first bitten by
the aviation bug, I would definitely like a copy of the file if it's
not too much trouble.

Im interested in knowing why you dislike Jepp charts??
Every corporate flight dept, every commercial operator and alot of private pilots use Jepp.
I find Jepp charts and plates to be much more comprehensive.
Especially the approach plates. Yes, the Govt. plates printed on that awful re-cycled pulp are less expensive
but they only have the very necessary info for the approach. Jepp plates have all the supplemental info. that saves time. On most Jepp plates, the info is so comprehensive that I dont even have to check the facility directory. Now there is an awful thing.
The Govt. "green book". lol

By the way, I have Kai Tak approach plates printed by the Defense Mapping agency also. Are these the plates you are offering??
