TWA On Time?

Sat Dec 05, 1998 8:55 am

We have lately been discussing TWA's great ontime performance in the forum. I told you all that my grandparents were flying from Newark to St. Louis on Tuesday morning. Their flight was delayed almost four hours as the mechanics changed the windshield on their MD80 aircraft. How funny is that?

Like they say, [email protected]$# happens!

Something like that happened to our UPS flight once at GSO. On approach into the airport, the 757 impacted a huge flying creature (may have been a bird--we couldn't tell by the blood and guts left on the nose). It dented the skin and bent the window frame a little bit. Mechanics checked it out and cleared it for its next flight to Roanoke (about 12 minutes away so no pressurization necessary). I think the windshield was frame reparied there.

BryanG: No sign of a red cape and blue tights, then?

Earlier this year my flight from London Heathrow to Glasgow was
delayed becuase the windshield on the previous aircraft shattered on
push-back. I thought it was highly unusual - obviously not.

CX747 you got that right.
T-dubs on time performance is abismal.
A close friend who is a travel agent tells me that you can always count on T-dub. TO BE CANCELLED OR DELAYED. LOL
