There was a photo of it about six weeks ago on the Airbus website, and, I THINK someone posted it here, or a link to it.
The tail was painted, but not the body. Someone had drawn a cute smiley face on one of the engine covers, which suits the plane.
They're still saying first flight in January.

This is going to be one of the last really interesting rollouts for a long time, perhaps until the A380. (No offense intended towards RJ fans.)

I think.. AirFrance is a big enough customer that they got Airbus to cram CFMs on there. Frontier is getting some.
Also, they are having some trouble with the A318, I heard a while back... something about balancing the aircraft... don't know, and can't substantiate. If you're interested- which clearly I am not- do a search.

I know that it was supposed to be equipped with PWs under the wings, and then as AA737 pointed out, AF used its clout to force Airbus to use the partially made French engine.
So my question is....
Is this prototype using the CFMs, or the PWs? And which model of PW is it (or was it supposed to, if AB decided to ditch the entire PW engine idea in favor of CFMs)?

The prototype will normally have the P&W PW6000 engine. So far I believe Air France is the only airline to have specified the CFM56 for its A318s. Airlines to have ordered the A318 include:
Air France
Frontier
America West
EgyptAir
Air China
British Airways
TAM

As an commercial aviation enthusiast, I'm always very happy to see new aircraft models being rolled out or shown for the first time. Thanks for the photo Sonic!
The A318 will be a very suitable aircraft to take pictures of, it will fill in the frame nicely as a 735 does actually.
