My Meal All Over The Galley Floor

Fri Dec 07, 2001 1:05 am

Hi folks,

I flew Lufthansa on AMS-FRA-POR recently. Very nice, clean airbus 321/319’s.

I sat on the last row and when the FA arrived she extensively excused herself for dropping the last (my) meal in the galley. She fixed my some Frankfurters instead and smuggled a bottle of wine in my hand luggage. What’s the most remarkable service recovery you received to this date ? What do you think would be the smartest (affordable / practical) thing an airline could do ?

Being honest, genuine, and sincere is the cheapest thing for an airline to do. Its amazing so many service related industries don't do this. When you know someone is sincerely apologetic, its hard to stay upset. Free wine works too!

Air France...I've missed my flight and have been
upgraded on business with lots of coupons for
free food in CDG ! Lufthansa paid me also a "eat as
much as you can" during two hours in every food-shops of my will in Changi Airport in Singapore and I've been upgraded on Business class on an A340 back to Frankfurt...I liked it very much...CSA did so in Tel
Aviv, the upgrade I mean...

cheers,

One missed connection and a horribly late flight from LHR to JFK. Total delay was about nine hours. Captain came down about an hour after takeoff and apologized to four of us in the same situation (we were in the first row of Club World). He introduced us personally to the purser who was to take care of anything we required (oh..let's see..maybe a bump up to First Class?? didn't thinks so).

Anyway...very nice touch since we frequent them a lot. They made the effort to address as Mr. XXX or Ms. XXX the entire flight (which arguably isn't that great since VS does it all the time).

From IAh-Los Cabos, Mexico, the F/A spilled Port Red wine all over me. Luckily, I had a chnage of clothes on board and chnanged into them. She gave me a $1000 voucher and she had the janitorial service wash them at the airport when we arrived. She also gave me a complimentary tour of the tarmac. Very nice!

ILS,
A "complimentary tour of the tarmac" as opposed to paying a crew member to take you into the secure ramp area?

I always get hige delays not related to weather. And I never get anything. I guess I'll just have to make a little more noise next time.

I was in business class on Sabena earlier in the year, on a flight from EDI-BRU and they ran out of cheese sandwiches. The very nice f/a gave me a bottle of good champagne and extra food from coach. I was an extremely happy camper.
