Your Airline & The Fleet...

Sat Dec 15, 2001 7:57 am

If you opened your airline with only smallest planes in fleet... how many B717 would you order and fly...

For my airline, I will order mostly B717-200s for the smallest in short haul fleet plan, B757-300 in medium haul fleet plan, and B777-200ER in long haul fleet plan, and for Airbus, I will do the same.

I will go for all RR engines as possible.

What yours fleet plans.......??

For Airbus you'll do the same?  Laugh out loud I assume by that you mean A318 and A340, but please enlighten me as to which airbus plane competes with the B757-300.

My fleet would be B737-200s for short haul, B757-200s in medium haul (-300s are just too loooooong), and B747-400s for long haul. The 737-200 engines would be P&Ws, since there is so much selection for engines on those planes  Big grin the others would be RRs, of course

I would start out with ERJ-135 operating on the west coast, up and down the California coast first. Then maybe 737-700/800 for medium and 767-300/777-200 for long haul.

For Airbus, im going for A330-300 then, I'll go for some others possibly medium haul busses..... A342s & A343s are powered by GE, I'm going for all RR engines, maybe a A346 with RR engine....

Thats for sure.

For short haul regional, I'd go for the Dornier 328JET. For heavier short haul and smaller long-distance routes with not as much seat demand, I'd go with one of the larger RJ's, like the Embraer ERJ-190, Dornier 728JET/928JET or Canadair CRJ-700/900. For mid-range, 757-200 and 737-800. Long-haul I'd go 777. If you can run a whole big airline off of just a few types, that would be kind of neat, in terms of cost savings and efficiency.

I work for a regional (Mesaba) and from what I've seen, it looks like the majority of their Saab routes could be bumped up to CRJ or even Avro RJ85 routes due to demand and in many cases, cargo and baggage volume and still fill a lot of seats. So I'd be more than happy to send something bigger into small towns, because in many cases the demand is warranted and you can make some money off the cargo hauling and mail as well.

Give me 10 A320s, and 5 A330s, and will build you the most successful airline ever.
Commonality, operating costs, efficiency and technology. What else would i ask for anyway? Plus not forgetting great comfort and cargo.

There is nothing in my fleet to compete with B753s at all. But Im getting possibly some A320s & A330s, and not sure to get A346s at all....

To start off, I would like some 733, 738.
For medium routes, 763, 333 would be excellent
for long routes, 332, 343, 772, 744, 74S

well for a airline based out of a not so huge city i would have

CRJ (50 seats)
CR7 (70 seats)
CR9 (90 seats)
717 (100 seats)
73G (120 seats)

twa902 chicago
life wasn't worth the balance, or the crumpled paper it was written on

Mine would not exactly be cost effective but would consist of...........

Long Haul.

L1011
DC-10
MD-11
747sp
773 (just love the size of those babies!)
A340-600

Medium.

DC-10/L1011
744D
333 (high density routes)
767-200/300

Short Haul

744D
757-300
727

Smile/happy/getting dizzy I'd love that fleet a mix of modern and old aircraft (BTW my L10's DC-10's etc PTV's and Leather all round!)
The 727 orders are with RR Trents  Big thumbs up

i would use dornier 728JET for regional flight,
A318-321 and maybe A330 (actually, the plane which fits these routes best is the A300, but it's too old  Sad ) for the european routes, and The A330, The A346 and the B747 for long haul flights  Smile And i will place an order for the A380 :p And, after i was successful for maybe 5-10 years, i would open a low fare carrier with B737NGs, because boeing sells them so cheap  Smile

My airline would a regional, low cost carrier in 1-class configuration.

The aircrafts:

Fairchild-Dornier 528 JET (55 seats)
Fairchild-Dornier 728 JET (75 seats)
Fairchild-Dornier 928 JET (100 seats)
and hopefully the proposed, stretched version of 928 JET with 120 seats.

and all of you but 2 would be in bankruptcy from high costs!!!

My airline:

Main type:
DC-3s. No need for fancy-smancy electronics.. just hire WWF wrestlers as pilots. Keep it under 19 passengers so I don't need an FA. Who needs TCAS if your plane can barely climb above 1,000 feet anyway?  Smile/happy/getting dizzy Plus it's somewhat Stage 3 compliant, right?  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

The DeHavilland Beaver for short-haul routes... get im in and out... by landing or shoving them out with a parachute. I would use the Cessna 172, but people would complain of no place to keep their luggage. With the Beaver, we can just tug it behind in a Rubbermaid container on a rope.

This way, people won't complain about the food, cause there won't be any. People wont' bitch about ugly flight attendants, cause there won't be any!!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy  Smile/happy/getting dizzy And everyone gets a great view!!!

Mine would be a fleet of 10 RJ115s flying in the eastern time zone as far west as CGX (yes, CGX) and five 722s flying longer domestic routes to the west coast to be replaced by 752s when the money flows in. once I get the 752s, I'll also get 764s for trans-atlantic flights.
I don't know, so this is my signature.

If I had to go for Boeing aircraft :

B737-800 (Domestic-Regonal network)
B757-200 (Regonal-mid range network)
B767-300ER (Long range)

For Airbus Aircraft :

A320
A300
A330

Other Airplanes :

Fokker-50 (domestic)
Fokker-100 (domestic & regonal)
MD-11 (international)

In my country however, I would buy these :

4, Let410's
4, Let610's
4, IL-96M

For starters.

Then if boein cheaper...
757-200 medium
777-200ER long haul (or 747-400ER depends what mood im in... but 777 most likely)

But airbus

A321 med.
A330 and A430 long (a346 for big capacity)

Engines would be Rolls Royce on all models (IAE on small airbuses) and the A340 would therefore be A345 or A346...
I would only order a 747-400ER if i wanted a 747
and if i wanted big capaciy form airbus then no way to the A380, just the A346

For a WN-type operation here in India, i would choose an all airbus fleet of 18 A32X aircraft with V25XX engines and a 2 class layout.

Breakup:
A319 - 114 seat - 8 nos
A320 - 144 seat - 7 nos
A321 - 180 seat - 3 nos

For a long haul full service "Palace in the Sky" operation serving India to US (ORD, JFK, LAX and IAD), Singapore, HKG, Japan (TYO and Osaka), Europe (CDG, FRA SVO and ROM) and ofcourse daily to LHR, Fleet would have to be around 15 A330/340 series aircraft.

A330(300) - ~7
A340(300) - ~4
A340(600) - ~4

It would be nice if there was a smaller 210 seat (2-class) A330 with the range to fly India-Japan NS.

330's would be 2-class (JY) while 340's would be 3-class (FJY).

Regional carrier with Do328TP, 328JET, at early stage CRJ100/200, later 528JET, 728JET and if demand justifies 928JET. Mostly scheduled services, some charters to the Med.

I wouldn't order a single 717. But only second hand Fokker 70's and some D728JET's for very short distances...
Some 737-900 for medium haul and perhaps also some 767-300 for the same purpose.
I would order A340-500 for the lang haul traffic and some 340-600 for lang haul high density traffic...
