KLM Summer Scheds

Thu Dec 27, 2001 9:40 am

does anyone know any CONFIRMED news about KLMs coming summer schedule? i know Nagoya and Saporro are to be dropped, and that EWR is to be handed back to NW, but what are the sched changes, if any? Any new destinations, a/c types or increased frequencies? KLM seems to have a very conservative growth strategy, compared with other european majors, mind you, if Sabena/DATs rapid expansion is anything to go by, its probably a good thing!

Cheers!

"New" routes:
Stavanger and Bergen will revert back to KLM from Braathens, both served thrice daily with a mix of KLC Fokker 70 and mainline B737s. Nuremberg, Hanover and Duesseldorf are handed back by Eurowings and will become Cityhopper destinations, operated with Fokker 50s (5x DUS/ 3x NUE) and a mix of Fokker 50/70s (HAJ).

Equipment change:
Cardiff and Bristol will be operated to some extent with Fokker 70 instead of Fokker 50s.

Extras:
1x additional non-stop AMS - Abidjan on Tuesdays
1x additional non-stop AMS - Tripoli on Thursdays
3rd daily to LIS
6th daily to HAM
Amman, Damascaus, Kiev all go up to daily

Cutbacks:
Norwich (-1), London City (-2), Oslo (-1)

Changes during winter schedule:
As you mentioned, Sapporo and Nagoya go, this with effect 1Feb02
Antwerp changes from KLM exel to KLM cityhopper F50 with effect 2Jan02.

Additionally, I have in the back of my mind an info from a while ago that Mumbai will go, with flights to Mumbai operated by NW in the future. Not 100% sure, though.

Word in MEM is that MD11 will be downgraded to a 767... eventhough the MEM-AMS-MEM is nearly always full. I think it might be because they can use the MD11 to carry higher yield pax somewhere else.

Do you know which Oslo flight that is to be dropped?

I guess that it is the midday flight since the aircrafts which arrives on their evening service, stays at the gate during night and leaves eraly in the morning.

TG 747-300 the KL1147 dep AMS 16.30 (will be dropped aas of January 1st 2002)

More info:
One extra daily to Milan MXP (in summer 5 MXP and one LIN). CDG back to 8 dailies and all B737. BUD still 4 dailies, however, only one operated by KLM. GRU departure in afternoon instead of morning. FCO back to 4 dailies. STR all KLM Cityhopper (previously two flights operated by EW).

Moreover, Beijing an additional weekly flight. KLM serves China now daily. (thu, fri and tue to SHA and mon, wed, sat and sun to PEK).

Almaty back to 4 weekly flights. It seems as if KL753 will be routed via BON instead of CUR. This will mean an additional 7 flights to BON. However I'm not sure if they go through with this.

No, KLM (or better NWA) started AMS-PHL only to make life difficult for USAirways. They never intended to have the route (alllthough they would argue otherwise) and as soon as USAirways was gone KLM/NWA axed the route as it wasn't very profitable (if profitable at all). Allthough USAirways is back they won't do this again (already too much capacity over the Atlantic).

Any more info on Sao Paulo? at what time departs AMS? it is being kept daily?

Is the route meeting the expectations of the airline? KLM has been offering much benefits on its route to GRU such as triple miles or half miles required for a ticket.

KLM will start service between AMS og BGO (Bergen) and Stavanger (SVG) in Norway. The routes are today operated by Braathens (BU) but will be operated by KLM when Braathens becomes a SAS-partner airline.

There will be 3 daily flights to each destination. Using B737 and F70

Lima, GRU seems to remain daily. With the departure time ex AMS at 14.00 (now 10.45). Return flight leaves GRU at 22.45 (now 21.30).

Look on http://www.amadeus.net for the schedule (subject to change)

According to Amadeus only 5 flights are planned to NCL.

BTW Does anybody know why if the KL codeshare on BU flights ex OSL will continue? I looked in Amadeus and they still list these flights.

KL had also added a extra PBM flight last november, now 4 flights are operating from AMS to PBM v.v. KL/PY 713 on days 2,4 and 7 and KL 717/718 on day 3. This flight will be operated by MP with MP service and MP 763, like the YVR flight 681/682

Bring Back The 747 To Yyz!

Sun Dec 30, 2001 7:19 am

Are they going to bring back the 747 to YYZ (toronto Canada) this summer? I miss that awesome aircraft. I would watch it from work....playing golf with members on the golf course. We are located like 40km or 25-30miles east north east from the airport but on a flight path from the atlantic and other eastern provinces. I am pretty sure its the path for rwy 23....but anyway... I always love seeing that aircraft along with Alitalia, and when Virgin were flying..I would always tell the memebers which aircraft it was....they got kind of anoyed once and a while, but they respected my knowledge and used my info for their flights!!!!

Thanks....
