EVA Air Replacing 747-400

Fri Jan 04, 2002 10:46 am

Followed by the official announcement of new CEO (Female, 2nd female CEO for Taiwan Airliners) of EVA Airways, EVA Air has made a private announcement to the media for its future fleet plan.

EVA Air's source quoteed that EVA is in the 2nd stage of fleet evaluation, after it has order 15 (includes options) B777X back in 1999, and 8 A330-200 in 2000. In the future, EVA Air will purchase a new aircraft (perhaps 777) to replace it's 15 B747-400 (including Combi) currently in service, this is also due to EVA Air's heavy concentration on Cargo market in the future. EVA will receive the 3rd and the last B747-400F later this year.

The source is from Taiwan's http://udnnews.com

Well then maybe the B777-300ER? or a mixture of B773ER and A340-600? Since they will have a fleet of B777 and A330.

EVA has 3 B777-200LR and 4 B777-300ER on order.

EVA used to order 12 A340-600, however, they cancelled it. I think may be they'll go for B777-300ER.

Is this new CEO trustworthy? And what happened to the old one?

Oh, great move though

I find this rather strange considering that they like cargo, yet they are disposing the Combi aircraft. Still, it will be great seeing EVA 777s at LHR.

The new livery suggests Eva Air´s management got no taste, replacing the 744 with 773s would make it even more obvious.

If you want to discuss a female President, go to the Non-aviation forum.

Perhaps Boeing will offer a 777-300ER Combi.

If they're so strongly leaning towards the cargo market, why not order some A380-800Fs? (Hey, I can always dream, right?)

I'm surprised no one mentioned the A380C until Bluebelly did.

Is this new CEO trustworthy? And what happened to the old one?

This new CEO is trustworthy, she joined Evergreen Group, EVA Air's parent company more than 20 years. The old CEO was moved to another company of Evergreen Group, and he has been sitting on the CEO seat for 10 years.

Perhaps Boeing will offer a 777-300ER Combi.

Good suggestion, may be unlikely, since they're saying bye-bye to Combi.

Is there an airline that has a 777 cargo aircraft? Does a 777 freighter exist yet?

Likesplanes,

No, there are no 777 freighters either in service, on order or in development. United did ask Boeing to look into the possibility, if I remember correctly.

Damn! It was a joke! Got deleted and everything.... too many stiff-asses around here.

And Scorpio, why do you continue to pull this 'redneck' crap out of your ass?

Well I hope they will still serve Seattle.. and hopefully with 777. Any of that Airbus crap and they can forget Seattle.

Going to miss the 744s though.  Sad

EVA Air has made a statement that their ratio for passenger and cargo market will be 4:6, and no need to worry that SEA/LAX will be gone.

And why would EVA dump LAX since it's one of the money-making route for EVA?

They had a record for dumping 340 order (12 of them). So I guess may be EVA is leaning towards Boeing again.

to think that their pax:cargo ratio was 5:5 just 3 years ago... and now the ratio is 4:6... maybe in 10 years it'll be like 2:8...

who knows..

Na:

What do you mean by BR's management has no taste if they replace the B744 with the B773ER? Well, lemme tell you, you are the one with no business sense. Do you know how much more cargo an airline can carry on the B773ER than on the B744? Do you know how much cheaper to operate the B773ER than the B744?

BTW, EVA only signed letter of intent to buy A340-500 (not -600). ANd this LOI is still in effect.
