Well, it's now a reality! Only a few things are different on the reality version.

Head over to KLM's Facebook page to see the unveil.

I think it looks awesome.
Thoughts?

Attention all European airlines -- do something like this with your livery.

Do we know where the KLM blue colour came from, its not the same blue as on the Dutch flag?

Good question. It's very old.
As KLM is such an old airline, maybe it's as simple as 'the colour of the sky'.

Well, it is for the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro if I am not mistaken. For that purpose I think it is an original idea. But the rest of the fleet should remain blue as we know it.

That could be it, but I think it's also supposed to be a reference to the iconic Dutch "Delft Blue".
I love it as a one-off, though I'm glad they stick to just one color for the rest of their fleet : ) That Dutch Flag cheatline is fabulous, though; I wouldn't mind seeing how that looks on the blue planes as well.

I send a tweet to KLM today and they said this orange livery will remain for as long as possible, at least two years. I hope to see this bird before it's gone, it's very beautiful and unique!!!

KLM last year asked a question to its Twitter followers:
“Should we colour orange next year on King’s Day? #OrangeExperience”
Well, it seemed the public have spoken – and with 30,000 likes and 2,500 positive, KLM revealed and rolled out a Boeing 777-300ER – painted in Orange, combining it with the national colours of the Nederlands and traditional KLM Blue.
When the airline introduces it at an event, for gods sake tell the public what they said as a resin for it. Don't guess!
