There is a connection -- used or new A380s may now be significantly more expensive than they were two weeks ago, depending upon how IAG acquires them.

But IAG isn't a UK company. It is based in Madrid, and would purchase aircraft in Euros or US dollars. Why would the price in these currencies have changed?
Yes, BA (and BA Cityflyer) are UK based subsidiaries of IAG, but these days IAG places the aircraft orders and allocates them to BA, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Vueling etc.

As a A380 in IAG spec will have around 50% UK content (2 x wing. 4 x engine) the price movement would not be as large as the headline swing in rates might suggest.
Then you have the situation that IAG operates using a multitude of currencies selling the majority of tickets in GBP, Euros & USD, but also selling in most of the other currencies of the World.
Then it has its largest airline working in GBP but its other three in euros.

It would take a damn good analyst to work out what any of this does to the figures at IAG, but i would guess that wit their spread across Countries and currencies it is likely to very little.

4 A321 for WOW air. http://www.airbus.com/newsevents/news-e ... our-a321s/

WOW air the low-fare airline based in Iceland has signed a firm order for four A321s. The airline’s first purchase agreement directly with Airbus
also makes WOW air a new Airbus customer. WOW air is an all Airbus operator with 11 aircraft in its fleet to date and will grow to 12 by the end of 2016.

Airbus Military would be the vendor. They don't seem to have any crossover with John Leahy's sales force so it would be dealt with in their 'tent' if there's a sale to be announced/

"AIRSHOW-India's GoAir signs $7.7 bln deal with Airbus for 72 A320neos - Reuters News

12-Jul-2016 14:11:28

FARNBOROUGH, England, July 12 (Reuters) - GoAir, India's
fifth-biggest carrier by passengers travelled, announced on
Tuesday a preliminary agreement with European planemaker Airbus
<AIR.PA> to buy 72 A320neos in a deal worth about $7.7 billion
at current list prices.
The deal will help continue GoAir's growth, the airline said
in a statement, and built on its existing order for 72 of the
same aircraft which it made in 2011.
"The new aircraft will help us in unlocking new domestic
routes while providing a springboard for continued international
network expansion in the years to come," Go Air CEO Wolfgang
Prock-Schauer said in the statement."

Thanks, the Reuters article has been updated:

Airbus struck a preliminary deal to sell 72 single-aisle jets to India's GoAir on Tuesday and was negotiating over the sale of 100 more to another Asian airline to try to seize the initiative at a rain-soaked Farnborough Airshow.

GoAir said it had signed a memorandum of understanding to buy 72 of the latest version of Airbus's top-selling A320 aircraft, worth around $7.7 billion at current list prices.

Aircraft are typically priced in dollars but how they are financed and paid for is a little more complex than that. However IAG's problem might be that a big part of their revenue is in British Pounds and the value of the Pound is very uncertain in the foreseeable future.

It seems a bit odd to be suggesting BA should hurry and buy A380s because of Brexit looming, when one can easily make the argument that the looming Brexit is a reason why BA should hold on purchasing A380s to see how everything shakes out.

True, but in any case the individual airlines that make up IAG no longer place orders themselves. IAG itself does the ordering, and allocates (and sometimes reallocates) the planes to BA, IB, EI, VY etc. It has been suggested that eventually more group members than just BA could make use of A380s,though I'm not at all sure what Vueling would do with one...

Press release on the GoAir A320neo MoU:

Indian low-cost airline Go Air has chosen Airbus for its further expansion plans by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for 72 A320neo aircraft at the Farnborough International Airshow.

Go Air, a Wadia Group company, announced its latest order following a similar agreement for 72 A320neo placed in 2011 bringing the total order book to 144 aircraft. The first two aircraft from this order were delivered in June. With the NEO induction, Go Air will expand its network and offer fliers better connectivity and continue its growth as one of India’s preferred low-cost airline.

I'm very skeptical about the Air Asia growth.
They are growing at a fast pace, starting up joint-ventures all over Asia which are either not doing well or already cancelled, ie Air Asia India or Air Asia Japan. Their own operation is barely profitable considering the size of their fleet and profits are decreasing.

The risks only increase with size.
So I'll believe it when they finish taking all their deliveries.

I don't think that Air Asia will be able to sustain their growth in the region, especially seeing how Chinese airlines are increasing market share both on the domestic and longhaul markets, The Chinese seem set on competing very heavily for all travel to, from and in Asia, using its cheap labor force. The Chinese have a huge willigness to shift from a secondary to tertiary economy.

It's one thing to go from 50 to 150 aircraft in a few years, it's a different matter to go from 150 to 450.

This being the 3rd largest A321NEO order, the A32xNEO family backlog should be at almost 4700 frames me think.
The A321NEO backlog should be at 1225 frames.

Classic press conference with Tony... it's really fun watching it.
And Tony did a comment about an option for 100 additional A321neo within this order. Not 100% clear if this was just a joke or if Airbus didn't want to talk about it.

Enjoyed the Air Asia press conference. It's clear to see what a fantastic relationship Air Asia has with Airbus and it's interesting to hear that Tony reckons they are still short of the number of aircraft they require (given that they will be replacing 200 CEOs currently in their fleet with NEOs).

Fabrice always impresses me every time he talks and I particularly liked his reassuring answer when questioned about Brexit

Correct. Reported in Australian Aviation today the first A321neo's will be used out of airports with capacity constraints, both DPS-PER and DPS-DRW are high on the list to receive A321neo's.

The article also talks about Fernandes would like to start AirAsia Vietnam in the future.

Agree, I'd expect a lot of Australian routes to go to A321 as it will be able to make the distance. Virgin currently runs 737s all the way.

PER-KUL (switch with 330)
MEL-DPS

SIN-PER could be a new one.

Not sure if they can do SIN-PER as they would need 5th or 7th freedom rights. They could get AK to fly JHB-PER if they wanted.

However a big yes to all the others I could even see KUL-ADL returning.

They are not going to operate 450 aircraft, pretty sure those 100 A321neo's will replace some 100 A320ceo's.

Their CEO's are pretty young aircraft. The oldest is 11 years old and the median age is less than 5 years.
I just don't see it growing fast enough to achieve pan-Asian status.
Als, how much sense does it make to replace a young CEO if fueel prices stagnaate where they are.
Every LCC's wet dream is to replicate Southwest and Ryanair's rise to mega carrier status. Howevver those growths went paired with constant and sustainable profits and happened over decades.

In 2015 their results were barely 120 million dollars despite record low fuel prices.

I see another Kingfisher debacle looming around the corner.

AirAsia achieved this while financing their major expansion. Not bad I would say.

The have already begun retiring older aircraft - these aircraft are transferred to their aircraft leasing arm, Asia Aviation Capital, and will no longer remain in the Airasia fleet.

The ULCC model is to have very new planes which therefore do not require expensive major checks.

The average age for Ryan Air is 6.4 years and Easyjet 6.6 years (From airfleets.net)

To maintain this young fleet and grow they need to be placing huge orders.

Not too surprising. Likely going to be putting ~240 seats in them like Wizzair.

Will be 236 seats per Tony Fernandes.
What we leave behind is not as important as how we've lived.

A highly entertaining press conference for the Air Asia order ...

Probably the funniest press conference I've ever seen. The world needs more light hearted airline CEOs like Tony Fernandes and less like U-Turn-Al.

236 seats, according to Tony Fernandes:
we could do 240, but because we've won the world's low cost carrier for the eighth time and we want to win it for a few more years, we haven't squeezed the life out of our passengers. We think that 236 is about right, plus is blends in with a number of carts we want for ancillary income, which is very crucial for us. I think that floor plan is called a spaceflex.

Enjoyed the Air Asia press conference. It's clear to see what a fantastic relationship Air Asia has with Airbus

How many other CEOs could get away with making jokes about John Leahy and Kieran Rao's weight? I particularly liked the bit about the Iranian restaurant, John not having any cash on him and then Tony pretending he doesn't know what NEO means.
First to fly the 787-9

Which is probably a more realistic maximum, especially if they want to board from 2-3 doors, as he said. Need more space at L3 (the new L2).

If memory serves Ryanair's MAX8 200 will be 197 pax, as well. Again the realistic maximum.
