LATAM launches Lima-Barcelona

Fri Jul 15, 2016 12:15 am

LATAM Perú is to operate non-stop flights between Lima and Barcelona from December this year.
Tickets will go on sale beginning 16 July, but the schedule has already been published:

LA2430 LIM1945 - 1425BCN Mon, Thu, Sat
LA2431 BCN2355 - 0745+1LIM Tue, Fri, Sun

LATAM already serves BCN from GRU, but strong demand from the Peruvian market has made this new flight service come true.

It has not been confirmed, but it will most likely be a Boeing 767.

...that'd be one hefty haul for a 767.

If it becomes a 767, it will become the longest 767 flight around at 5,400nm GC. Currently, the longest 767-300ERW flight is Condor's FRA-GIG, which, at 5,154nm is only a mere 4nm longer than LATAM's LIM-MAD, also a 767 flight.

It's not the longest scheduled 767 flight ever, though. AC used to fly 5,574nm YYZ-NRT, but this was quickly changed to a 787 once the frames arrived.

I wouldn't be surprised if the additional 787s that LATAM still has on order will be used to replace the LIM-Spain flights in the next 2 years, as these are exactly the kind of routes that fit the 787 very well.

AM flew the 762ER nonstop from NRT to MEX for several months before the 787-8s arrived. That is 6,086 nm.
Upcoming flights:
April/May: AM MEX-SCL 788 (J), AM EZE-MEX 789 (J).
