I'm sure it'll be quite beautiful. It looks like a Mexican commissioned artwork piece. Sort of Oaxacan.
This really is not a very good picture as it's a bit fuzzy and diluted. But I'm looking forward to it.
(sort of would love to see a silver livery like they used to have yrs ago, even though growing up near LAX and seeing those silver and orangeish DC-9s come in, that paint scheme always made it appear that the inside of the cabin would be hot)

Tail is slighty different vs the drawing, but it at least give a clue..

Hello:
True it will feature a special livery which was chosen through a contest some years ago, however that is not the design that won the contest, as stated by smithnl the real tail is slightly different from that design.
Will have to wait and see when it comes out from the paintshop in a month or so.

I wish AM would revert back to using orange in their livery. With so many blue themed liveries flying around this day of age, orange would be a great change.

Anything but the current bland livery would be a great improvement. I really miss the shiny bare metal finish of the old AM liveries and while I understand that the new breed of planes do not lend themselves to these liveries, it would be great for AM to take some cues from its heritage and create an altogether new livery to grace its birds. I am excited about the -hopefully- colorful special edition first 789, but I would be even more excited if AM were to renew its standard livery and bring back more color (and get rid of that curvy red line under the titles).

I suppose AM got the price quote from Boeing for the original scheme we saw in the earlier post
and got sticker shock LOL

The front is totally different from the rendering. Maybe Nok Air threatened them with a lawsuit??

Like it or not, IMHO, I like when airlines take the opportunity to be more creative. I personally happen to think this one is nice, while fun, it helps remind the world of the rich cultures who occupied the land before the discovery of the "NEW WORLD". It could have looked like a cliche Mexican thing (which would have been tacky), so I'm thrilled it's about the ancient cultures, something to really enjoy when visiting Mexico besides the beach and the resorts!

I believe it looks great and it sure beats any of the bland U.S airline "retro" paint schemes. At least they have a little imagination and flair.

I agree with you and I wouldn't doubt if the reason they altered the original design had to do with keeping cost down. Working in management for a profitable non-scheduled air carrier, I can tell you that we scrutinize every extra costs that is nice to have, but doesn't necessarily have an impact to the bottom line.
The original design reminded me much of the old Ecuatoriana special paint schemes, which were a true work of art.
The final version is nice. A much more polished version of the original blueprint. It will be an interesting sight for people at airports around the world and and a nice representative of the original culture of Mexico.

From the mock ups, I thought it looked ridiculous. But the final version looks fantastic.

We should be happy, even if it's not the most conventional of designs.
Heck, I'd even take crap-that-any-3yr-old-with-finger-paint-could've-made, like "NYC 2000" (aka Peter Max), than the bland EuroWhite coming out of airline paintshops lately.

I like how they incorporated the light? instrument sensor? on the sides of the nose as the "eyes" of the dragon? head.

It is not bad after all. I was quite underwhelmed by the initial picture, but after seeing the whole airplane and under good light, I believe it is quite interesting and refreshing. The tail is not that great if you ask me, but I love all the colorful animals and plants along the fuselage.
I have to wonder if this one-off livery that is lacking the blue tail and cowlings is a presage of a future boring all-white livery. Hope not.
