AF Staff To Strike From July 27 For Better Working Conditions

Mon Jul 25, 2016 6:02 pm

Air France stewards and air hostesses look set to strike again, this time for a week from Wednesday 27 to August 2 at the height of the French holiday season.

The trade union, SNPC, confirmed this morning, Monday, that indefinite strike notice which was issued on June 3 has been activated for the coming week.

See: http://en.rfi.fr/france/20160725-air-fr ... trike-week

Couldn't AF pilots and cabin staff coordinate their strikes so they don't strike one month after each other but simultaneously? That might save the passengers still daring to fly AF some hassle.

What a disgrace. Unions are nothing but evil these days. I sure wish KLM would run as far away, as fast as they can from Air France.
Whatever

Absolutely! About 40-50 years out of place I'd say! What the hell do we pay them for anyways?

It seems like the folks at AF love to protest.

AF having a strike! I'm shocked I tell you, stocked.

What are the hours and rest periods like vs. KLM. I think an automatic response to a strike should be matching.

Whew...it had been a few months since their last strike and I was getting worried they were getting soft. Way to go AF! LH, you're on the clock!

Its a bit like Sabena crew being on strike when the airline folded.
AF striking on terms and conditions - they need to get real. Close the airline down and start again!!!

Both AF and KL are waaaaaaay behind in labour reforms compared to say IAG (BA/IB).

And in some areas the 2 airlines actually see themselves as competitors! Go figure.

Strong worded opinions yet not a single attempt to raise and discuss the facts behind their choice to strike.

Because Capitalism is evil and workers of the world unite >.>

I honestly hope my airline never goes on strike, but if they do, Scab and Proud of it.

Labor unions are NOT your friends.

Tomorrow 90% of the long haul flights, and 70% of the short-haul flights should be able to commence. Numbers on flights with a pax limit are not given.

A very bad timing as this is one of the busiest periods of the year due to the vacations. I truly hope the new management will be able to fix such issues properly for the future.

And I suppose they wonder why AF is such a basket case. The unions do expect that as a back stop the French government would bail out the airline. I know EU rules are supposed to stop that - but when do they ever apply to France?

An interesting observation, as many would argue you are on dangerous 'non-democratic' ground here.

Singapore never made it to a full democracy under Lee Kuan Yew, some openly compare his politics to a benign dictatorship.

His methods certainly delivered results, but a price was paid by citizens with different views.

Some...? I think that's common knowledge, even for Singaporeans. They might be mostly happy with it since "it's worked up till now", but even they don't kid themselves.
