BH Air A330 at GLA??

Thu Jul 28, 2016 7:22 pm

Just arrived in from LCY this evening and noticed a BH Air A330 being pushed out of the gate for what I assume is it's return trip to BOJ. Is the route doing that well it needs the A330 or was this a sub for the usual A319/320?

They appear to be one or two aircraft short as the A330 has been seen at various UK airports. Has no more than an A320s worth of passengers on board.

It's been at GLA a few times now, subbing for the normal A320. I still miss the Tu-154 to be honest... ;-)

Yes, as much as I liked seeing the A330 this evening a TU-154 would be a much cooler plan to see!

Does anyone know how well they are doing on the route? Is it working out for them?

i dont know the exact numbers but i know there are tons of british tourists in the cities of burgas and varna, so yes i think this route is doing very well.

Same here, not sure of numbers but the flight keeps coming back year after year so must be doing well enough.

Its a block charter and went out via Gatwick this evening.

The Flights are part of a traditional package tour operation and the reality is these flights have been around since the late 1960's when Bulair/Tabso operated with IL18's to Varna and Burgas from Glasgow/Manchester/Birmingham and Gatwick .

If the packages are sold the seats are filled its a simple concept.

Bulgaria has long been a cheap holiday destination and is probably on the rise again because of the difficult conditions in Turkey/Egypt and Tunisia.

At its peak it in the late 70's you could see three TU154's on the ground on a typical Saturday morning in July with one returning again in the evening !
