United Channel 9 on 737
Any chance of UA installing Channel 9 on the 737 fleet?

Considering that UA went out of their way to specifically remove Channel 9 I would say it's unlikely that it will ever come back.

UA didn't go out of their way to remove in fact they added it to quite a few of the sCO widebodies and have retained channel nine on UA widebody aircraft (sans the domestic 772s). Technically it is possible for UA to stream channel 9 over the streaming video system they simply haven't done it yet...the DTV equipped aircraft would be a bit more challenging but that's possible as well.
UA has just about completed the install of the streaming video system once that is done you may see them start to add some features as UA isn't using the system anywhere near what it is capable of doing.
I know the voices in my head aren't real but sometimes their ideas are just awesome!!!

Really? It's been consistent enough for me that I have watched nearly an entire season of a TV show (American Crime) exclusively on board United flights. I haven't watched one minute of the show on the ground.
There may be some variations but I have found it to be very consistent and certainly not like a box of chocolates.

It's really anything but consistent between streaming (if it works or if it doesn't), pay for DTV, the various different versions of AVOD, etc.

Channel 9 is only available on mainline, isn't it? I have a couple of flights on E170's coming up and I can't remember if those are even WiFi equipped.

Only mainline and any aircraft with hardware ripped out doesn't have it.
They added CH9 to the sCO wide bodies and all new 787 delieveries have it
