Elite Airways starting SRQ-PWM

Wed Sep 14, 2016 1:31 am

Did a search, didn't see anything. This news is almost a week old

Elite Airways Announces New Scheduled Jet Service from Portland, ME to Sarasota-Bradenton, FL Starting November 17, 2016
Expands Upon Elite’s Successful Service Routes Between Maine and Florida with New Twice Weekly Nonstops to Sarasota Starting at $199 each way; Tickets Available at EliteAirways.com

Is a new station starting in 2 1/2 months a relatively short time?

I wonder if they will be using -200 or -700. :?:

Interesting. I can see them adding SRQ-EWR in the future.
Lufthansa: Einfach ein bisschen besser.

Seems like a logical and natural route.

No, I'm just kidding...I'd be shocked if that works. It's becoming G4 with an RJ.

If they can make, APF, VRB, and MLB work, why can't this?

Did you feel the same way about PWM-MLB?

Because that is doubling to 4x weekly.

I must admit, I was shocked that SRQ was chosen over PIE

Time will tell.

What is the fleet size of this carrier?

They have 1 CRJ100, 5 CRJ200, and 5 CRJ700 according to the wiki.

The company is HQ'd at PWM, so it is conceivable these are maintenance rotations that are at best breakeven. If they are going to a Florida LCC with RJs (a seeming contradiction) it would seem they would want the base to be in Florida.

How would any ONE (emphasis on one due to the market size) even know that they could buy a ticket on this route if they wanted to? Even if they're listed on the GDS's, it's just not going to show up at two times per week.

I'd say they should stick with Branson as a better opportunity, as at least they have a captive outbound market of retirees.

SRQ is also a captive market of retirees. SRQ will command a fare premium over the likes of TPA/PIE or MCO/SFB. It's a old-timers golf market, often including people with 2nd homes around SRQ, not to mention the fact that SRQ's got a lot less competition.

Yesterday was the 1st flight, and I totally forgot.
Seems it was a CRJ-700

The airline already is planning to bring new nonstop routes to Sarasota-Bradenton, said John Pearsall, president of Elite Airways, and he hopes to make those announcements in the next month or so. :scratchchin:

This is an interesting article...and there is a sentence in there that basically says how SRQ landed Elite

Could Elite bring SRQ western routes?
