Singapore Airlines reported some surprisingly negative performance data in August 2016.
SQ - August 2016:
Passenger numbers: 1.6 million, -5.7% year-on-year;
Passenger load factor: 80.0%, -5.7 ppts;
- East Asia: 78.6%, -4.5 ppts;
- Americas: 83.5%, -4.5 ppts;
- Europe: 80.8%, -8.0 ppts;
- South West Pacific: 82.3%, -6.8 ppts;
- West Asia and Africa: 71.7%, -2.3 ppts;
Capacity (ASKs): -0.3%.
The cooperation SQ-LH should see a pay off on European services, but apparently isn't.
Or is it all EK, QR and EY's fault.

August 2016 clearly was a bad month but the previous seven months of the year have fared a lot better.
Things are tough for SQ but they are clearly a very well-managed airline- they've never posted a lost to say the least. I have no doubt they'll post a net profit this FY around the level of last year's at least.. I believe it was around $800 million

Silk air has a constantly low load factor... Why don't they build the fleet with smaller aircrafts

This is 2 months after their codeshare with UA had begun. IINM, it's limited to just IAH routes for now?
Would imagine that bringing LAX and SFO into it would help with the N.Am numbers. Would also bode well for SQ returning to EWR, than consolidating at JFK.

This kind of stuff you can not compare on a month by month basis. Last year had an unusual month of August. There were the SG50 celebrations with an additional public holiday and associated additional travel. Last year Singapore in August was unusually alive. This year it was a normal boring month. This numbers only make sense if you look at quarterly or half-yearly basis.
Tigerair and Silkair are hardly flying to cities where the ME3 have any impact.

Could the slowing economy have an effect on the numbers? Even trivial stuff like the attendance of yesterday's Singapore GP was said to have been affected so I'm not surprised travelling passengers are also seeing reductions.
