??? LH's livery is the mother of all eurowhite-liveries, IMO.

Im under the impression that eurowhite means all white fuselage. Lufthansa is partly grey which makes it not quality as eurowhite.
CanadaFair wrote:
Only people with warped thinking might see things that way, I dont mean you but AC management.

Cathay is practically a Eurowhite now, so is American they just use grey instead, United is a version of Eurowhite as is Luftnansa.

Air Canada can definitely go bolder if it fits in with their economics,, and we would love to see more colour as well, but most airlines moving to Eurowhite are also saving pennies somewhere along the line, in anycase that green tail livery wasnt bad at all and could have been around for another 20 years, it was by far one of the best tails out there in the Eurowhite tail design league.

American is not eurowhite, but just grey. First of all there is a reason the term is eurowhite, grey doesn't count and by that logic I guess Air Canada already uses eurowhite but with the toothpaste color. None of the airlines I listed use a version of eurowhite because eurowhite means a solid white fuselage with only maybe logos/titles to break the solid white like WS or evergreen AC. All the ones I listed include other colors painted on to the fuselage. If the eurowhite idea saved so much money, why don't all airlines use it?

I guess we will never agree on evergreen, I still think it is AC's worst.

I'm normally not a fan at all of predominantly white liveries but I think these proposed AC ones - for whatever use they're designed for - are elegant yet strong. I think the white-space creates a great canvas for the iconic yet modernised version of the unmistakable Maple Leaf.

I do not like the current livery or interior design. The silvery-blue I find cold and aloof which is at-odds with how I perceive the people of Canada.

Euowhite may be white paint, but I all liveries based on the concept of just tail design and titles in various forms on a plain fuselage are Eurowhite, including those with coloured engines, AC too is in that group using a different colour though.

More like very boring and Eurowhite to the extreme. I pray that it's not this.

This is one of my favorite conceptual designs for Air Canada. I know it's a pipe dream with all that red, but it looks fantastic.

[quote="winterlight"]I had a go at modifying one of them. Looks like a cross between Northwest & Turkish !

Thanks for trying to do a modified livery.

What's the website where we can create our own liveries? I've seen some interesting schemes/liveries on there over the years.

IMO, the current livery for AC mainline is very unique. With the "aqua green/blue", it's very interesting. I like the maple leaf and the background colors, I feel were chosen since Canada is very cold a large portion of the year, representing, crisp, cool, cold ,snowy, icy days, weeks and months.
I actually don't mind Rouge's scheme. It is "Euro-white", but feel the tail works well as does the titles. The lower case handwriting represents a simple, easy going, low fare airline, thinking, "keeping it simple".
If AC does change their mainline scheme, I hope they won't do what China Eastern has done! That is one of the worst liveries out there. I was hoping we'd see them drop that so quickly, similar to what Air Transat did when they got so many complaints with the introduction of the second to last livery update.

I think it's time for the "cheat line" to make a comeback. It always added some class, and character to each a/c.

Hmm, whilst that would be nice to see a carrier avoid a eurowhite scheme, I think that looks very...umm...low cost carrier-esque. I guess we shall al just have to wait and see, I suspect we'll all end up disappointed.

I think this looks really good. Certainly captures being the flagship carrier of canada. I really hate their scheme right now.

Agree 100%.

Sad that the leisure outfit looks so much better than the current crap that AC parent is wearing. Especially after sporting that great black livery. :(

Please no, show all the Leaf or nothing, Its like showing half a Kangaroo on Qantas...

I liked the Green Tail with the red leaf, But anything is better than the toothpaste tubes flying out there now

I concur on the whole Leaf...those negative space half logos are the trend that needs to end. DL's chopped off widget on the tail just looks like some geometric nonsense to me. At least I know what it derived from, some people wouldn't.

Man, is that ever an awesome looking conceptual livery! I would so love to see Air Canada change to that, if indeed a change is planned. The red just jumps out at you and the large titles across the fuselage and the working in of the maple leaf outline on the tail is quite stunning.

Ugh. Both of those concepts are bland to me. Their livery now is clean and simple without being overly boring, at least to me...which is why it will undoubtedly be replaced by something inferior.

You are both right. The red on the tail looks like paper clippings at best.It also reminds me a little of Air Malta (the "cross of Malta").In Greece one could refer to it as a "distortion of national symbols".If they insist on using it they should try adding the small whole leaf up on the tail and use a bare metal belly at last (lacquered aluminum). It would enhance the "icy" effect...

That concept identity doesn't look great. The type already looks dated, and the maple leaf is unrecognizable. That's one element that does not need to, and should not, change. Also, when people design these fake liveries, why do they always, without fail, try to put on way too much color and some really awkward looking swooshes?

I am with you on this. The tail design, in particular, is 'smart', as you put it. The aqua shade, in general, is not high on my list, but it is unique and particularly evocative of northern climates. My only issue with the livery is that the fuselage is supposedly 'sparkly' but this nice attribute is not apparent in all lighting or in all photographs.

Say what you will about the current base colour, but I love that I can look across an airfield anywhere, and immediately identify an AC aircraft, regardless of whether I can see any graphic at all. Whatever new scheme might happen someday, I hope that it is as easily identified.

Very interested to see what they come up with. I like the current livery very much (though it's one of those ones that's very light dependant IMO) but it doesn't really mesh with much of their recent branding (website, uniforms, cabin etc.).

When is the next 787 delivery? If it is a fleet-wide livery change, the next one should be in the new livery.

If there are simultaneous employee events, will there be three aircraft painted?

Either way, very exciting times. I like the new website colour scheme - I hope the new livery looks great.

For 80th anniversary how about adding original TCA logo?

The only thing I can say is that the website hasn't matched their livery for years nor has the uniform. If they were going to release a new livery, they would have (should have if they really do in the coming months) done it on the 787 which featured their new product. Also, if you look closely at the seats for example, they still have the green/blue on them in the form of stripes.
Image
There is also some of the blue/green on their beta website as well. And it's not abnormal for an Airline's interior to not match the livery, UA's newest interiors don't exactly match the livery nor do AA's. And another one is that DL's uniform doesn't match their livery. I don't think the fact that the livery is blue green, but the interior, uniform, and website feature very little of that is solid evidence that they are coming up with a new livery. I could be wrong though I hope not.

What Ive noticed is with their advertising. Back in 2012/13, Air Canada had a lot more blue and red in their ads. Now its just red white and grey. The new uniforms that ere leaked also sport the red white and grey so.

I really don't want the livery to change because I like the current one, but I am optimistic that if it does change that it will be decent. There hasn't really been an AC livery that has been outright bad, except for that bare metal monstrosity that was quickly shelved , and I hope that they AC continues this track record.

I believe that was a test to see if there was a significant fuel savings. It was never meant to be a new livery.

I'm a fan of the eurowhite craze! It allows the sleekness of the design of the aircraft to shine through. As a matter of fact I love the Japan Airlines livery they introduced a few years ago. And that's about as eurowhite as you can get! However the current AC livery is a standout classy livery that doesn't really need a refresh. IMHO

I have refrained from commenting on this thread since it was first started because I mainly considered it to be rumor. I personally haven't heard anything at work with regards to a new livery.
Today, however, I was reading the AC employee internal newspaper, Horizons, and there was an article about the countdown to EIS of the 737Max. In the article, there was a statement saying, "The design elements, including new livery and interiors have all been signed off by executive management."
So, I will take this as confirmation that there will be a new livery introduced in the near future. And while some of the ideas posted earlier in this thread do have some nice design features, I, like many here, can't fathom a mainly white scheme!
While I can't say that I truly love our current colors, one thing I will say is that it stands out. You can always pick out an AC plane among the sea of white tubes at any given airport that we fly into. Either way, I guess we will have to wait and see what the powers that be have approved.

Hey guys,
I agree with many posters above that I love the current colourscheme and it really stands out worldwide. I hope that the new livery doesn't change too much but keeps he major design elements and colours. I think the maple leaf deign on tail is the only thing I would change IF something had to be changed. I love the 'old' encircled maple leaf logo and like how it is used within the Rouge colourscheme... Maybe simply changing the tail to something similar is all that will happen? Perhaps an updated font for the titles as well: like Qantas recently did (don't mention the armless roo though)
Cheers,
Bunumuring.

February 10th. It's happening. Source? Marketing Dept at AC. It is being kept secret. In today's Internet world, I am rather impressed they have prevented images from leaking out (so far!).

KGUS is just up the road from me and is where it is being painted. I'll keep an eye on flight aware and see if I can't get up there to try to snap something: http://flightaware.com/live/flight/ACA7 ... /CYYZ/KGUS
