Saudia B777 isolated at Manila Airport

Tue Sep 20, 2016 9:36 am

A Saudia flight from Jeddah has been isolated at the airport due to suspected threat onboard the aircraft. The plane was carrying 300 pax.
According to the latest update, the Captain sent distress calls my mistake before landing which turned out to be false.

Where is that button? I have never seen it before, the B777 has an evacuation button, but no hijack button, at least as far as I know.
Maybe they are talking about the squawk 7500, but it is really difficult to select that by mistake.

If there is/was/will be such a button, a public forum is not the place to discuss it.

That being said, the location and aircraft type reminded me of a book written by a friend. Anet would tear apart the technical details, but the general public will enjoy it.

Word is they squawked 7500 about 20 miles from MNL, confirmed it to the tower, only to call a false alarm after they landed.

"Hit the hijack button"

That is poor reporting, and could lead to a future real hijacker hurting a captain because he heard about this mysterious button and wants to know where it is.

A trick to have priority handling and get ahead of the queue at severely congested MNL :?:
